I cant run the boost/timing that i want in this car on 91octane and its pissing me off... It sucks knowing that your car has like 1 second faster potential 1/4 mile time and the only factor thats holding you back is the damn piss gas that you have to tune with!!!

Damn... i might have to give my buddy that goes to SJState a couple gas cans and some money to get my 100 octane now :notgood:

I'm thinking of bringing my Talon out. It's been 6 months since I had it at the track, so I want to check some things first to make sure it won't blow. I also want to see if I can get into the 11's again, or was it just a fluke last time? I hope not!

I'll post again to say for sure if I'm going or not.

Well, as usual, my car threw a little fit a day before the track. 5th gear syncro retainer jammed and car got stuch in 5th.. Heh.. what are the odds. Luckily I was able to get a spare in San Mateo, and I'm up and running again, this time with new axles, so I'm good to go for tomorrow. I'll be rolling out there around 2pm.
Dave, if you and Mahesh what to syncronize our arrival, my number is 510-812-3985

I'll see you guys there (provided my car doesn't bring me any new surprizes by tomorrow.)

I hit a personal best in the 60' time, ET, and MPH! Unfortunately my clutch couldn't handle it and it overheated and slipped badly if I tried to slip it at all. In my last run I babied it off the line then slapped the clutch at each shift. It held the power, but how fast would my ET be if I could've launched it hard? I'll have to wait until I get a new clutch.

My mods list is up to date, except there's a few small things not listed, like AFPR, home depot intake, larger fuel line from filter to rail, a switch to turn on the fans so the fmic stays cool, and some weight savings. I'm pushing the limits of that setup, so I'm thinking of going bigger.

Anyone heard from Danny lately?

My car - boost leak, out of 100 octane, charging system probelms. I wanted to take it to paul tomorrow, but i didnt get a hold of him, maybe i'll call him in the morning. My cell phone is starting to act wierd and not work right (Damn ghettropcs!)

Ha, sorry ive been MIA guys, ive felt wierd not posting on tuners... dsmtalk is alright, but tuners is my home. Paul, if you check this, call me b/c i want to bring my car in on tues/wed!!!

I was close but didn't quite get there. Ran 13.0 at 107, with 1.7 60'
that damn boost creep and high timing has been keeping me back a lot. I'm getting my chip today, so timing should no longer be an issue, and my external WG is arriving today as well. Hopefully, in a week I should be a happy camper.
 
This is a little late... but here are my two best timeslips from the 19th. This was with me trying to run 20lbs of boost, but it wouldnt hold... so it was mostly on 15psi after a spike to like 22psi.

HOw about the R/T on the 13.50 run? I also managed a .063, and a .093 the same day. The 13.50 run was against an evo 9 that was running 12.9's all day, i dont know what happened on this run, i didnt get a chance to talk to him. He was the one with the dyno sheet taped to his window, Dave knows who im talking about.

paul, that was your daily driver, right? If your 2.3L shop car is having problems breaking into the 12's, I dunno if I should bring my car to you ne more (LOL just kidding)

btw, how much would you charge for a compression test. And what about a rebuild if I bought the pistons, rods, and rings before hand? Can you bore my block out? Would you let me help again, since I want to rebuild my block myself but don't have the tools really. (aka engine hoist)

anyway I can get my old flywheel back? we might need it for this engine, but I doubt it.

Last time I was there the shop car wasn't running, you need to get that thing running if it isn't. Are you going to the dyno day?
 
paul's shop car isnt running a 2.3 anymore. And the magnus cracked...again... I cant wait to really see that bad boy in action though. Then again, i could have just gone and watched dave bringing out the talon the other day!

would anyone happen to have an extra 6-bolt lower timing cover laying around....?

hey testicle... ROFL ... when are you gonna be able to go to the track again?! we need to plan another day to go and get a bunch of cars out again. If all goes well, me and you should be running similar times and hopefully we'll get to line up!

We fixed my boost leak today at pauls shop :thumb: and found out that my timing belt is rubbing against my cover, so i need a new lower cover. I need to get that replaced before i drive the car much more, let alone tune or go to the track. I might just order one from diamondstarmotorsport.com if nobody locally has one. I saw one on craigslist not too long ago, but i dont really trust that...

I think I might just buy dsmlink and be in debt again.... I really need to retard ignition timing so that I don't knock so much, preferably before the 20th, since I'll be DYNOING at FFTEC that day. got the wideband o2 sensor working, but not the #@)&*% turbo timer. Even with the handbreak and speedo wires detached (aka 0 volts no matter what, right?) it still doesn't work. Tried both switchs on the back, everything works, EXCEPT THE TURBO TIMING. It can tell me my speed, my 0-400m time, all that jazz I don't need, but when it comes to keeping the car idling to let it cool down, nope, no go.
 
yes, please check if you have that cover on your parts car. (its the one you take off to do a timing belt job.)
Also if you get the link, you can log that wideband too! (not that you cant with the logger you have already)

So anyways, car being ready or not, when can you make it to the track next?

Whats up with the gvr4, is the battery all good now, was that a fluke? or is it the alternator?

Im gonna try mitsubishi graveyard tomorrow for the timing cover, if they dont have one and testicle doesnt have one, then im just going to order it from dsmotorsport.
