thats it, i have to go to video tape now. As far as i know alex and paul are going to go too, probably with Ron (if he can wake up from his world cup soccer wetdream).
Plus, IF there is a chance for dave to get the 14b to 11's i have to go and see!!!

Damn, i wish my car was ready so i could drive it! Anyone busy and want to loan me your car and let me go get you some timeslips?? :sneaky: ha...ya right

Well... all my parts are ordered, just have to wait for them to come in and then the building process begins!! :rocks:

Im going to try to make it this wednesday to videotape the runs. But at the same time, it really sucks to go to the track and not race a car. Maybe i'll have to bust out the super fast 18.4 (dont ask) 90 plymouth voyager! :rocks:

how late do they let people in for watching. Can I come at say 8 and watch? LOL I doubt it would even be worth it, so I probably won't go. No racing for four more weeks, I got pole vaulting camp. Im going to bed, vautling for 3 hours straight is more tiring than conditioning. I ####ING LOVE pole vaulting.

im pretty sure they let people in real late, all the way until its closed.
Just say that your dad is racing or something and you left earlier but cant find your ticket now... bla bla blahhhh

Sorry guys, a bunch of stuff has come up. I dont think i'll be able to make it. 1. i dont think my car will make it up there! 2. ive got other stuff to do and 3. its not much fun going and watching... the last few times ive been up there i havent even watched any races but the ones that happen right in front of me in line. 4. this motor rebuild has me broke as a joke!!!!!!!!

Sorry alex! but it looks like you will have ron there to tape for you!

Good luck to all of you! I look forward to seeing the video's. Dave, may the special dsm force be with you to break into 11's with the 14b!

I can't, for the life of me, get that rear motor mount in. I have the mount bolted to the car with the insert in, and everything is in except the bolt that goes through the mount itself, Paul told me to take out the front bolt so that the engine can rock, but after an hour of pushing and shoving, I couldn't get the engine to move in the slightest bit. Im going to break a brick, put it on top of my jack, and try and push the engine up from the axel mount thing that is where the ac compressor used to be, think that will get it up there? I just need to find a brick thats broken in half, ### a normal brick is too big to fit in there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

btw, today I got into the 11's from my short stride, so hopefully dave will get into 11's with his shortcommings (the 14b). (short stride basically means I took five steps with my left foot before I jumped, instead of eight. That means I was running slower since I had less time to accellerate on the runway. Im so excited since last season I could only pull off a weak 11' 6" jump from my long stride and today Im reppin' 11' from my short stride... its going to be one FUN summer.)

yeah.. that works much better before you change drv. and pass. side mounts to prothane...

Hey Danny, yeah, I did so-so. I was really hoping for low 13's but my best pass of the night was a 13.64 @ 98mph with a 1.82 0-60ft. I'm sure I could've went alittle faster but I busted out on that same run.

BTW, I just got a missed call on the shop line from you (you woke me up!) and I'm assuming it's about the parts? Well There's a big box that says Eagle Specialty Products that arrived this morning so I'm guessing it's yours.

YES! im all about big boxes of parts showing up for me!!! Go ahead, crack it open and take the motor mounts. (just make sure your re-order black ones for me!!!)
Now, when will the second big box of parts come?!?! thats when everything gets started. Ive got my fidanza and fp bolts sitting right here.... ::pets flywheel::

HMMMMM.... stock crank pulley or ebay racing underdrive billit pulley??? What do you guys think?

Awww man, 13.6? Thats a great time, considering you didnt do anything new to your car but tuning!
Heh heh... ive still got you beat though!
How did you run that time at 98mph?? Where's ## top end at....? :p I think thats a good et for your mph. I was tryin to break 100mph for a while but couldnt, i think the 264/272 solved that though.

How'd paul do? Any other dsm'rs runnin yesterday?

Thanks Danny, but I don't need your motor mounts anymore. I found some on craigslist the other day and put them in right before I went to the track. Since last time I went to the track I added my EPROM and did lots of tuning. I also added a ported 2g mani. I was running 20psi yesterday with a good tune so of coarse I was expecting something alittle better than a 13.6.
Don't talk to me about top end.

Ron asks if you're hungry? LOL

EDIT: Oh yeah, Paul was having tranny issues. He didn't do so well.

Well ron already knows the answer... and its yes! hahaahaa
Ask him if he's found where the previous owner of the supra hid the flux compacitor.:)

Which of your motor mounts needed replacing? You got em brused eh.... well then dont touch my box!!!

ahhh... paul's tranny...somethings wrong with it?!?
Remember when he said something along the lines of..."i dont know why everyone has so many tranny problems ... my trans has stock 160k on it and i get perfect shifts, no synchro problems...bla bla bla"
then i told him he'd regret saying that b/c his trans will get back at him for it...
ROFL
then two weeks later he had to replace 5th gear, now hes having more trans problems...
:notgood:
I told you that your tranny issues will come paul!!! :p

haha sorry guys, my motor is blown so any "my dsm is broke" thread i see im like "ahh hahaa!! welcome to my world!" Im just making up for my boosting withdrawl the best way i know how........by laughing at others misfortunes!

Dude... why would I buy used motor mounts? I actually got lucky and picked up a set of brand new poly urethane bushing inserts still in the box for $45 haha!

Heh.. well, my tranny has over 170K miles on it. I can excuse it for not wanting to shift past 7K..
I got four runs. Couldn't get into 3rd twice, 2nd once and one time I just started rolling back on the staging line, and right as I was corecting for it, light turned green, so I ended up launching at 2K rpms. That run I got 13.2 at 111mph ROFL My best time yesterday was 12.8. Nothing impressive. Although I must say, that there was this teal 1G with graphics, stand-alone, nitrous and completely rigged, that ran 14.7 (I think he got it down to 13.something later though.
Anyway, new syncro time for me. May be even TRE's doub;e-syncro setup. Will see.

By the way, your motor mounts aren't in the box. Either there is another box in transit, or they forgot to include them, 'cause they are on the invoice. I'll call 'em tomorrow.

well as long as you get it sorted out and they come its fine. If it isnt needed to build the motor i could care less at this point.

edit.....

wait a second, ron raced the supra! and i missed it?!1/ whats all this straight line racing sucks talk ron!?
what did you run ron. Damn i missed it! I would have gone to watch that!

YES!!! i'll be there tomorrow morning paul unless im a lot sicker than today and throwing up everywhere....

Brain, looks interesting..... What are your plans for where the pop-up covers were... custom hood? 1gb hood? what about front lenses? Modifying stock? 1gb lenses with the backs removed....? what about inbetween the two lights/ inbetween lights and bumper...?

Give us details im interested in how you are going to pull this off/ how this is goin to look.
If it does come out cool then props to you man.

Good job Brian, those headlights look interesting. I'm curious to see what the finished product will look like. I hate pop-ups too, if you're project turns out good, I may have to bum your idea and convert my lights as well!

it will look exactly like a stock 1ga from the outside. I already have everything fabbed up for the drivers side and I started on the passenger side today, but there was an accident on 237 today that made it so it took 1 hour for me to get from 880 to 580, so I got home at 8:30 and the good hardware store was already closed. The other place had some things, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I am going to get some door hinges (except a little smaller) and some L brackets and some straight brackets to mount the lights/ pop up cover. You could just chop off the top of the pop up headlight assembly and it would be a perfect fit, but that metal is so heavy, I figured I might as well do it right the first time and get some aluminum brackets. If your doing it this way, you also need some nuts for 10mm bolts (6x1.5 I believe, but don't quote me on that one, just grab any random 10mm bolt from your car and take it with you and make sure it fits.)

Its super easy, I have no idea why I was so afraid of screwing up. And the camaro headlights have plastic mounts, so they are about as easy to cut with a hacksaw as metal is with a sawzall. Just make sure whoever you buy the assembly from, doesn't know what fiberglass is. On my passenger side one, the guy put it EVERYWHERE, and its like three times thicker.

The wiring is equaly as easy, you simply cut the three wires that go to the stock headlight, and the big fat red one is the ground, the red one with a blue stripe is the highbeam power source, and the red one with a white stripe is the low beam source. There are two prongs on the camaro headlights, one for a ground and one for a source. I went low beams on the inside, high beams on the outside, but thats only because I use my highbeams to look for cops only, Im young and I can see perfectly. Double the ground and your good to go.

super easy weight savings, and its in front of the front axel, so your getting rid of weight you would otherwise have to counter in the back with weight. (any weight between the axels is distributed between the axels much better than weight in front of, or behind the axels.)
