im goin to pauls shop tuesday morning, i gotta pick up my BSEK and oil pump so the machine shop can assemble my shortblock. Thats right, its all balanced and ready to be assembled. Probably by the end of the week the motor will be ready to be transported to pauls shop along with my car. Then the bad motor will be pulled out, head, turbo inspected, then i'll bring the head to the machine shop to get rebuilt, then it goes to dave (i'll be giving you a call about that "port job" Dave) and in the meantime paul will tear down my trans and inspect it for flaws. After that it all goes back together and the break in begins. After about 1k miles the boost will be up, the car will be tuned, and i'll be ready for another wednesday night drag.

Brian i'll try to remember to bring the cable, you should hit me up monday night to remind me to put it in my car or something.

Dave, good luck, if more people than you are going on wednesday imma try to make it, but if you are rolling solo i might not go (<~~flake) haha...

danny, I don't have your number, and so far its me and dave who are going wednesday. You should come and bring a camera, if I beat that stupid ws-6 I'm going to want it on tape, so I can shove it in his face.

As for tuning, anyone who wants to help me out a little, go to the thread "3rd gear pull,... weird results" in the tuning section.

I joined a pole vaulting forum today, that shit is sooo funny. Sadly, I might be a littly heaftier on wednesday, (and by that I mean, a couple ounces, since my body refuses to gain WHOLE pounds unless I grow WHOLE inches.) I'll probably end up taking the rear seats out and the spair tire and stuff. Maybe even the passenger side seat.

I really need to convert my seatbelts though. Those automatic seatbelts are crazy heavy.

paul, you should come too.

i dont have a camera.... i might be able to borrow a good one if its worth going... 2-3 more cars...

not that dave possibly running 11's isnt worth going... i just cant emphasize any more the fact that it really SUCKS BALLS to go to the track when you cant drive your car, especially if you havet driven your car in over a month and miss it and its driving you crazy!!! ahh  :barf:

:beatentodeath:

Danny, bring the minivan! That thing would do solid 19's all day, and make it super easy to nail your dial in time. You could win bracket racing with it! There was a guy out there last time with an 4 cylinder mustang with an auto trans. His ET didn't vary by more than .3 seconds all night. F'ker :)

Plus if I hit an 11 I'm buying dinner at Denny's for everyone!

Yes Brian I have a check card that works at the gas pumps. Try to get there on an empty tank and get about 3 to 4 gallons of high octane.

if I can't lean it out theres no point, so I might just stick with pump gas. Thanks for the offer though, I'll bring my money just in case I feel like going into rpm mode and taking out the extra 19% I still can...

I'll be leaving soon, looks like its pump gas for me today,... hopefully I can turn the boost down a little, or that leak I fixed brings my intake temps down enough to supress the knock I was getting...

haha, rule #1 before going to the track, .... Call the track ~2 hrs before you leave to make sure they are open and make sure they are running.

Ive went to the track and it was so windy that they were only running 1/8th mile. I wish that time i had called before i left to find that out b/c i didnt even get a run in befor they stopped the races.

Anyways, good luck next time guys.

next week is a toss up for me... All my friends want me to go backpacking with them tues wed thursday, but my friend in his ws6 wants to throw down... and my last day of pole vaulting is thursday. Im so up in the air about which one to go to.....

dave, any way I can convince you to hook me up with a reburn for my chip with a leaner wot? like 25% maybe, even though its still running pig rich at -30%, 25% should help a lot. I need to have paul help me fix that boost leak test first, and btw, my lc-1 is down for the count, I gotta take it out and send it back for warrenty replacement.

edit: no longer a toss up, Im going backpacking. If anyone goes and sees a red pontiac firebird trans am ws-6 with two black racing stripes there, and a really, REALLY loud exhaust, line up with him and beat him for me. The kid has acne like none other, you can't miss it. That and his hair is bleached (normally) and really stands out.

If I wasn't so protective of my car I would consider letting you drive it.

Then again, since I bought it, no one else has driven it except paul (unless paul let some people go for a joy ride without telling me,... which I doubt because I tend to keep track of the milage whenever I leave the car somewhere besides my garage.... my parents are paranoid and I always made fun of them for that, but now, I AM TOO!!!!!!)

one time I left it running and let a kid sit in it and he started reving it and I punched him in the face without thinking. He took it up to like 6k without asking.... and I wanted to hit him anyways....

damn, my logs are acting funny again,... same thread as last time...if anyone cares...

Brian, Yes, I'll reburn a chip for you once your tuning and trims settle. The log you posted looked wacked. I have some ideas to smooth it out, but I'd like you to try tuning the maft first and see what works. I'll instally my 1k injectors this week and see what happens to my car. I won't change anything else, so I'll know what is caused by the new injectors. With two of us using the same injectors we should be able to figure it out.

Alex, are you still out there? I bumped into a friend of yours at Sacramento Raceway last Wed. It was Josh, he was trying out his 89 Colt GT turbo. It was doing low 16's. I got it on video! WOOHOOO!!! :) He got to see my latest run with the 14b.

...... last? I thought you were going to take one more with all the mods except the 35r and see what you could pull. I know what your thinking, the turbocharger is the limiting factor in your set up, so adding all those high performance parts won't get you much out of your set up, yada yada yada. Well think about this: cams-> faster spool, smim, better flowing top end, leave it in gear longer and see what happens. Intercooler, leaner afr's. You could actually get a lot out of that set up if you put your mind to it.

its your car, you'll run amazing times either way, so I'll LET you pick whatever you want. Because if I didn't let you, you would have to do what I said. LOL

Those turbo colts are poping up everywhere, there was one at pauls shop when I went there on wednesday (therefore it wasn't the same car)

dude, if you had any idea how bad my add was, you would be able to tell me what I found at work today that gave me about 10+ hours of enjoyment just from looking at it. I probably have a pic of one too..... this thing is soooooo sweet.

I'm always confused how I'll find one, just one, tranny part in the scrap metal bin.... its like, someone threw an ac belt tensioner bearing....someone threw a muffler bearing (found a huge one in there today, a muffler that is, not the bearing, those muffler bearings are elusive mofo's)

Hmmm long time no racing....

How are everyones cars doing?
Paul... smog your car yet? Back to stock yet? Still driving alex's car around?

Dave, do you have all the new mods installed? If so, hows the new clutch breakin in? Care to give a mod list of your new setup>?

Brian...figure out your next mod? whats up with your ride?

Me... my car should be ready sometime in september... the head is at the machine shop im just waiting on new valvesprings. The block is done. THe car is at Pauls shop ready to have stuff put in. Im not sure if i should put all my mods back on the car. Im thinking of going back to stocklike setup, smogging it, breaking it in at the same time, and then put all the mods back on and beat the hell out of the car for the last few wednesday night drags that i can.
Anyone who has smogged their car... have you got away with a fmic setup on your car? or did you have to put all the stock piping and isht back on?

Just tryin to see whats up with the local cars... havent heard from people in a while... im getting kind of anxious b/c my car should be ready in a few weeks. Hopefully i'll be driving it before october.

Hello I'm still working on my car. I found the cause of the weird noise in the tranny. Check out the pic. On the left is the old shift 3/4 shift fork, on the right is a good fork. It was so worn down that it pushed up a ridge of aluminum that rubbed against the hub. You have to look closely to see the ammount of wear. The spot that's worn is on the right side, the side that shifts into 3rd gear. So that's why 3rd grinded a little! It cost about $80 to fix it, including a few other small parts. I also tightened the clearances on the center diff and input shaft while I was in there. The input shaft bearings had loose clearances, but the bearings were still smooth. So far, so good.

hmmm... i hope paul can figure out why my shifting up and down into second gear is so crappy/notchy/ non-existant (downshifts)

Hopefully it'll be something as easy as a shift fork too... good luck with the mods dave.

Dave, speaking of shims, I'm having a hell of a time trying to order the shims that go into the center diff. San Rafael Mitsu says there's only 2 dealers in the nation that stock them.

I'm looking for the shim that slides over the "side gear" (splined shaft) and rests between the top of that gear and the top/hat of the center diff housing.

I was able to get several different sizes from my favorite dealer, no problem. I'd like to tell you more, but first I'll need my cat returned. :)

haha, of course. don't worry, it's safe with me, on my completely 100% bone stock car. i'll get it back to you soon.
