Hi, This is my first time posting on this site though I have read quite a bit. To give you and Idea of my knowlege I am a mechanic for a living but I generally deal with diesel. I rebuilt my 90 first gen GSX. I increased the compression to 9.1 to 1 with ross racing pistons and rings, Eagle H-Beam rods, full floating wrist pins, balance shaft removal, Ballanced the entire rotating assembly, 8 lb fadanza flywheel and ARP head studs, 20 over bore, removed the emissions, 16G turbo, custom intake piping, K & N Filter, NGK plugs, 3" turbo back exhaust... I am sure there is more but that is all I can think of right now. Basically I did a thousand mile brake in where I didn't go past 4000 rpm. I then took it out to see what she was made of and took her through some turns betwee 6000 and 7500 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear for about 3 minituets. once I was done my temp had spiked to the indication mark on the stock temp guage. I was only running about 10-12 psi of boost. this weakend I continued to spike temp during freeway driving and consuming lots of coolant though no leaks. I pulled the thermastat and the same thing occured. I cheked for flow through the coolant and with no coolant preasure it was good. I then started to misfire at idle but would clear up at about 2300 rpm. I also noticed smoke in my rear-view but when I stoped it had cleared up. I then checked spark on all cylinders and the only one that was having a problem with inconsistancy was the nomber 1 cylinder. but it only happened when the car was at idle, as soon as I gave it fuel it seemed fine. there was allways some valve train noise since the original start up but it doesn't seem normal. I then checked my exaust gas temps and my nomber 1 cylinder is running about 150 to 200 degreses cooler han the rest (about 230degreese F). I am thinking that I blew the head gasket allowing water to get into the cylinder and then burned the valves causing them to sick, warp or something to that affect. does this sound right to those of you who have deblt with a simalar problem, and IDEAS before the tear down??????????????????????????????

P.S. my vacume gauge is reading a little bit low and I am down to a only 8 to 1 compression in No. 1 cylinder but my gauge broke after that cylinder. Sorry about the spelling the spell check wouldn't work.

I am going to just pull the head tonight and I will let you guys know what I find unless I hear something before then.......ROFL

Yor post is illegible and you bump it 3 times? Nuh uh.

Head gasket on #1 cylinder would be my best guess. Look into paragraphs next time around.

Nick - Please review the site rules here. We don't allow bumping at all.

Also, like Kyle mentioned, paragraphs are a good idea with a long post.

PS - My money is also on a failing/failed head gasket. If the gasket does not show a sign of failure, then have the head checked for cracks. It's also possible to have a cracked block, but it's much less likely.
