Imitation Turbos

I was wonder if a 16g turbo is a brand name or a kind of turbo. I know its made by Mitsu. But could any company call their turbo a 16g. I see them on the net for all different prices from $475 - $800+. Ive done the research and decided thats what i want. I just dont want to get ripped off. So my questions is are there any other turbos out there called a Big 16G besides the Mitsu. one?

16g and big16g's are the sizes of the turbos not the name.
Me for example i have an evolll (big 16g) made by SBR

If you get one through the vendors on this site you know that you will get a quality product for a good price.

Yeah. Go through a vendor like extremepsi or slowboy or dsmparts. Don't get it off ebay, whatever you do. We answer an Ebay turbo question once a week.

i got my big 16g off ebay and it works just fine. and it was only 350.

I have bought miscellaneous parts off of them before. They have good service.

I like when people try ebay turbo's... it's slowly building up in my mind that I may get one some day. I haven't heard any real horror stories lately.

Your 16g was made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, not SBR.

So my questions is are there any other turbos out there called a Big 16G besides the Mitsu. one?

If a turbo is being advertised as an Evo3 and it has "Evo3" or "EvoGT" etched on it, then it's not a real 16g. If the turbo is being advertised as a 16g and there is NOTHING on the compressor housing, then it's not a real 16g. You can buy these turbos at your own risk, but know that there is a reputation for them failing within a few thousand mile, if not sooner. Caveat emptor.

Yeah, I've read through that before and it sounds like bs to me. Also I think there was a thread on here somewhere and it came to the conclusion that guy isn't reliable for info.

Thanks Mr Boxx. I never heard of that dsmtalk site. i saw pictures on here of busted ebay turbos. i think im gonna get mine from extreme psi
