I'm thinking about getting a short shifter

Like the title says, I'm thinking about getting a short shifter for my 2g Eclipse. I had one in my old Eclipse and loved it but I would always "miss" the gear, about 7 times out of 10. The transmission was just rebuilt when I put it in. Anyways I would like some feedback here telling me what I should go with instead of one off of ebay like I did before, which where my problem might have been LOL.

The only one I would use is the Dog Box one. The cheap B&M knock offs have been known to break and B&M no longer makes one.

The Dog Box one is nice because it has shifter stops in it. I plan to get one eventually.

As far as testers go, they are looking for someone who races their car competitively on a regular basis.

I've installed a B&M and a Megan Shifter into a 2g and a Dogbox shifter into my own car. I've also used the JNZ shifter in my 1g, it was nice, until I shifted from 3rd to 2nd and blew a rocker arm through my valve cover. I blamed it on the shifter and its tendencies to want to pull towards the driver side.

The B&M and Megan are an improvement over stock, however the Dogbox shifter blows them both out of the water. I can honestly say, I've never missed a gear.

After installing the Megan, I noticed the shifts were definitely shorter, but it still felt like it was bending the cables. At the same time, I installed bushings in the cable ends, and aluminum shifter base bushings. After a few days of driving, the jam nut that holds the shifter in place already wore out and the shifter became loose.

I use this shift knob:

EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts

I firmly believe that this improves the shifter even more, if that's possible. It literally drops into gear and it even sounds good doing it. :thumb: I can NLTS 1st to 2nd like nothing, and thats always been an issue for me.

In the end, its up to you and how much money you want to spend. I hope this post was helpful to you.
