Im missing the splash gaurd behind the drivers side fender have a question

I have a 1992 eagle talon and i havent been driving my car in the rain cause im missing the splash guard that blocks the pulley and belt right behind the drivers side wheel and worried water gonna splash onto the belt and the alternator cause u can see the bottom of the alternator to what do u guys think i should be ok or try to find that splash guard?

I've been driving mine around in the snow and rain like that for well over a year now since all the bolts broke off and I have had time to drill them out and re-tap them. So far there have been no ill effects except for shorter lifespan of the belts. If you hit a chunk of ice you could easily throw it into your harmonic balancer and such. Plus you could throw a lot of rocks in there too if you drive on gravel frequently. You're timing belt will be fine as long as the timing cover is still on it.

If you need to drive it in the rain you should be fine, but I would recommend trying to find a splash guard at some point, I know I need to put mine back on soon.

Just find someone parting out a car in the classifieds. They probably wont list a splash gaurds, just ask if they have one for sale.

Ok kool thank god then im all set then but i heard people remove the splash gaurds so the heat can get out the engine bay and cooler air can draw inside is that true? also so the alternator doesnt get hot. I mean if its gonna save my belts life and pulley from being damaged then im gonna keep the splash gaurd on.

Are u sure about that cause i tried putting the shield off a 91 plymouth laser to cover my pulley and belt area and it doesnt seem to fit? Jnz tuning told me 92yrs and up are different then the 91 and below so i have to try and find me a 92-94

I'm sorry man I was online trying to find some info for you and every thing i read never stated the 91 was any different from the 92 and up I must have missed the change in the part #. I don't know where you are in IL. but Rt. 14 junk yard in woodstock IL. told me they had a few 1g's out there a few months ago. If its not to far of a drive I would give them a call and see if they still have any.

Jnz tuning has the drivers side splash shields for $42.69 which is a lil steep but at least there brand new and come with the hardware to...hammond,indiana pick n pull has 3 mitsubishi eclipses between 93-94 but its a eclipse not a talon so i dont wanna end up with the same issue.

42.69 is a lil steep but if you think about the possibility of going through belts and possibly pulleys its not that bad. Only other thing i can think of is call Jnz tuning and ask if the 92-94 1gb splash shields are interchangeable between the eclipse and talon. If that fails pay the 42.69 and have peace of mind knowing its safe from the weather and debris.

I looked at the 91 i have and it dont have a x anywhere on it and the chrysler dealer even told me its discontinued! But i did cut it myself where i think it should be cut and what do u know it worked perfect thanks

The left (driver side) splash guard on 1Gs is different between FWD (MB528623) and AWD (MB528711) models. CAPs shows the one for the AWD being about half the size of the FWD guard, so make sure you get one from an AWD car, 1990-1994.

You just have to cut off the extra on the FWD piece for it to fit an AWD; the bolt holes are in the same place on the part of the splash guard you will be using. I cant find a pic, can someone post a some pics of the AWD piece? If you see the AWD splash guard, you will know where to cut your FWD one.

Omg thank you so much i wish i wouldve thought of trimming some off to fit it way before I been looking for months for the damn splash guard for my car but im happy as hell now i dont have to worry about it in the rain or rocks flying in the pulley etc. Thanks for everyones help though this thread has been resolved

As a followup to this thread, the FWD version (MB528623) trim line is not to convert it to the AWD version (MB528711), at least not on the one I bought, according to my DSM catalog PDF and fitment on my 1GB AWD. MB528623 has a trim line on it for MB889564, both FWD versions according to the catalog. The splash guard cut to this trim line has interference issues on my TSI AWD. It looks like I can further cut it down to make it fit, but the AWD and FWD version appear to be two separate parts.
