Hello every one and thanks for reading my post

I have a few questions i have searched everywhere for and can not find a straight answerer.

1. what readiness tests does ill test for.
2. do i have to have all 4 tests in dsm link ready for ill emissions or can i have certain ones.
3. i dont have a rear o2 sensor anymore and will the o2 simulator work to set the rear to ready. cause i am getting a rear heater failer code when i enable emissions check for the 02.
4. when i bought my car it was a shell and there was no emission sensors or charcoal canister on the fire wall anymore. do i need to hook just the sensors up do i need to do all the vac lines and every thing for the evap and egr system.i do have a egr block of right now.
5. does speed density mess with the emissions at all also.
6. i have always wired my wideband in to my rear o2 wire do i need to remove this for emissions.

thanks for the help i really need to figure this out so i can pass. i have always had a 95 and it was exempt from emissions so i have never had to worry about this. i believe i have all my fire wall sensors for emissions stuff in a box of stuff from my gst part out but, i don't have the charcoal canister or vac lines any more through those out years ago.

Ok im in pa but I would assume its the same gist. Readiness test just basically says all testable things are ready. When you disconnect your battery and hook it back up your ecu tests all emissions components, when the test are over its ready. 2 they are going to test your gas cap then hook the sender to your obd2 plug. The machine will check for any codes thrown, so if you have a check engine light it will not pass. If there are no codes present it passes. Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply. but i am no noob to dsms had one since 01. i do know we have no gas cap tests all they do is plug in to your obd2 and scan. at this point i have no emissions equipment in my car at all. and also very aware of how to get all the sensor to flip to ready with proper installed and working emissions equipment, but that is not my case. im trying to find out what i am going to need to mod or reinstall to pass Illinois emissions. there are a tone of dsms here in Chicago area i know are modded probably farther then mine and have to deal with emissions also. just need help figuring what i need to do before i cant drive my car on the streets to set the readiness.

Wait, your profile says that thecae is a 95. Is that the case or are talking about another car? 1995 cars are not OBDII as that started in 1996. I think that the states vary on how many and what readiness parameters are needed. I am in NJ and have a 99 and I am allowed 2 incompletes. I used to have a 95 EPROM ECU with a key diver chip and it would never complete any of them. i was told that was because it was a 95 ECU and everything was not active for OBDII.

sorry i have not updated that i have a 98 gsx now. but am using a 95 eprom for dsmlinkv3

they do not do any visual inspections and poke around for mods. i live in cook county so i know i have emmsions this is the reason i cant get a new sticker for my plates at this point.

I don't have a rear O2, I have been using an O2 simulator from "Casper's Electronics" and it has been covering that. I forget what 2 incompletes. I get. My EVAP is all screwed, because under the hood it's disconnected, and the vent pipes at the gas cap/fill pipe are rusted out, but the solenoid is there and connected. I use ECUflash and I have "0300" random misfire turned off.

I'm sorry I must have misread your question, didn't mean to insult you.

u didnt insult me i just wanted to clear that up sorry if i sounded like a dick. i just really need to figure this out asap or im going to be with out a car.

Don't worry about it if you have DSMlink. Uncheck any of the tests you know you will fail and clear any stored DTCs. They will only check the gas cap, that your CEL works and that you have no stored codes. They will let you pass even with incompletes due to an exemption for 2G DSMs.

FWIW I have a 98 GSX with DSMlink and live in Chicago. The only time I've failed was because they couldn't connect to my ECU. You cannot be in "DSMlink" mode when you go to the test site. Make sure you turn the car off for about 10 seconds after you have your laptop connected which allows the ECU to reset to "OBDII" mode.
