I am having problems with my car starting so I decided to replace the ignition switch. I took the old one out and decided to take the snap ring off and take it apart. I put it back together and put it back in the car to see if it helped. I must not have done something right whenever I put it back together because now the key won't turn at all and its stuck back in the steering column and I can't get it back out to replace it. I can't turn the key to ACC and press the release to get the ignition switch back out. Any idea of what I should do to get this thing out so it can be replaced?

i have the same problem right now. key stuck in ignition will turn to on and run but will not turn to acc or come out for anything. i think its my shift linkage or something that causes it to think shes in gear when shes really not.
