Thanks..I need new seats bad in my 92 GSX...don't want to spend a lot and will probably go with some generic universal eBay seats..what do I have to do to install them? Thanks...joe

Your going to need to mess with the brackets and sliders. I heard they might have a kit for the 1gs to install seats like universal ones so you dont need to go all out to cut measure and weld or so whatever you can

I know for my seats i used the stock brakets but cut it then added an inch pr 2 to it and welded them

Yep, just found a set of universal racing seat brackets for 1g dsm on eBay but they are like $200!!!

I'll be sure to remember that! Actually the seats im looking at right now is a wide set of black Corbeau LG1 Racing Seats..I think they are made pretty well..Yeah I probably dont want to take a chance with the $200 shipped seats from the "bay" huh..

I heard Summit Racing seats were quite comfy + Reliable. I think they look sharp. Also recline. Only like $120 from their website.

Not mine but here are some SRT-4 seats installed in 1g. I believe they were custom installed but they look sharp.

For cheap your best bet is sourcing stock seats from something else sporty like the SRT-4. That way you know the seats are safe since they are OEM. The cheap eBay seats I had in my 1g were terrible. The recline mechanisms failed on both sides because the tolerances were way off and the metals were too soft.

The last gen Celica seats are actually quite nice too. I've got a pair in my '89 4Runner. Check out newer WRX seats, RX-8 seats and anything else sporty too. At a decent you-pull yard you can get a great deal.

Yeah check your local junkyards of pull and pays for some seats. That's the cheapest method. Otherwise save up the cash and buy some well made ones.
