idling problems

I need help cant figure out what is going on with my car. It has real erratic idle when idling it goes real high and then drops to normal. The guy who was helping me build it says i need a throttle body for it but my grandpa says it in the mass air flow. Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it would be a great help. It basically revs up to 2500 and then drops down to about 1500 witch is where it is supposed to be right? This is not a once in a while thing it happens all the time. I am going to look for vacuum leaks tomorrow considering that it quits raining. But any other ideas would help on what the problem could be.Also i just got the car on Wednesday i wanted feed back on what you guy thought of it but i cant get them to post. It says they are to big and then when i go to use the program recommended for making them the right size. It tells me that they are to big for it as well any ideas on what i can do to get them on here. One last thing if it is the mass air flow will a mass air work from a 94 n/t.


correction it idles at 1500 and drops to 1000 please help any ideas of what this could be.

first thing is vac leeks like you said. Then id go with checking the idle air control valve and the base idle set screw. Not to sound like a D!ck but do a search. we are beating a dead horse with bad idle threads.

o2 sensor,tps,isc....you will have to narrow it down...do you get a cel?
