So my idle is pretty inconsistent. Would it be because my idle control valve is somewhat clogged? It seams to only do it when it wants, it isn't an all the time thing. Sometimes it will do it when its cold, and other times it will be warmed up and it will only do it for a few mins then it will stop and everything will be back to normal. Any answere or comments would be great!

this is a common annoyance with dsm's. You could try the ISC but depending on mileage and age of the throttle body there may be other problems present. I would go through all the procedures for inspecting the throttle body and all the corresponding sensors. If it was me :)

It could be numerous things. Check out VFaq.com they have lot of info there. You can also search for idle surge, that should bring up lots of results.

It very likely could be that your IAC is acting up. Mine is starting to as well. I just haven't gotten a new one yet.

I would do the boost leak test like stated, and personally if your IAC is bad, I'd get an FIAV blockoff and be done with it. It may be the best mod I've done to my car. Nothing but a smooth consistent idle now, and less worry about the IAC failing again in the future. The site I got mine from is called Level Zero Motorsports, and you can get the plate for 10 bucks shipped. I have also never heard of an IAC frying an ECU, it either opens or doesn't, and I myself drove with a bad IAC for months with no issues.

You haven't been around long then. The ISCs are known for having their coils short out and fry the driver chips in the ECU.

well you have a idle air control valve, a fast idle control valve. and the throttle position sensor.
the throttle pos sensor could be off. Mine was off by like 4 degrees and it wasnt staying constant.
is your car boosted?

no its not boosted yet, i plan on swapping it with a 4g of course but i'm not having very good luck finding a donor car or motor that hasn't been molested. so your throttle position sensor was off? do you think that would be my problem as well or it could be a few different things? the car is a 94 with about 180k miles on it. also im pretty sure im getting oil into my valves, and i think my valves need to be adjusted. anyone know about how much that may run me?

Thanks for the info on this website, I just ordered mine $10.00 and free shipping that is worth trying.

My bad idle was several things all at once.
1. 4 bad boost leaks at the throttle body
2. ISC was failing (Made an ISC block off plate)
3. EGR was boost leaking (Blocked off now)
4. Rebuilt throttle body with all new o-rings

That's what I replaced. Boost leak tests fix things, but the main problem was the ISC too. As Vfaq stats if you unplug your ISC and if the idle stables out you can pretty much say it's a faulty ISC at that point. Or ohm out the pins VFAQ tells you too

I had this problem too. I spent five months trying to figure out the problem and finally got it. My problem was in fact my IAC. I was always idling under 1000 rpms and would constantly shut off when it was too cold from the idle being too low. I hope for you that its not because Chrysler just discontinued the part and it took me five months to find it for $555.

I'm having the same problem.

I replaced the IAC but i now need the FIAV block off plate.

The surging drives me nuts, especially since i can't hear the 272's lope.

Go to rockauto next time man... your car has the 1g turbo motor correct? You could have gotten that part for MUCH cheaper from there!

I put the FIAV plate on but I cut it out like another member did and put in a black IAC I bought for 35.00 on Ebay and my Idle surge is fixed.

Yep, Rock Auto sells the black plastic ISC's for $84.

You could have got an ISC, a hooker, and some blow for $555. :ohdamn:
