Hi all,

I need some advice with my talon. having idling problems. When I first start the car and drive it around nice and slow it idles fine. After it is warmed up and I get into it a little and stop, the car will adle @ 1200, drive it a little longer and stop will go to 15-1600. Little more and it hits 2000. Drive it arond nice and easy for a while and the idle will work its way back down. My TPS on my pocketlogger normally reads 11 @ normal idle. When it starts idling up it will go to 12 & 13 while idling. My throttle cable isn't sticking. I've tested the TPS using an ohm meter and it checks out OK but I wonder if I'm doing it right. I've heard 3 diff ways to do it. I have a haynes manual and chiltons, they both give diff ways to do it. I used the haynes way. chilton tells me to use the ohm meter on the ECU wires. Can anyone advise as to the best way to do it?

Thanks 4 any help,
Rick

I would clean the throttle body out, and check for boost leaks once you're done. Also, I would clean out all the intake piping, as it could be oily from your PCV valve (I think that's what it's called, little foggy at the moment ;) ). If that doesn't fix the problem, I would definetely try the Chilton manual's check method, as they seem to be the better guide to fixing our dsm's, unless you have the mitsubishi shop manual, that is.

I just finished blocking off the EGR valve and removing all unneeded vac hoses according to: http://www.taboospeedshop.com/emissions.htm. and replaced all others. No leaks. Removed throttle body, cleaned it, checked ISC and TPS with ohm meter. No luck there. I think there must be some air sneaking into the throttle body somewhere, I don't think its electrical. I'm going to check TB O rings tomorrow.
