Identify this Holset (detailed pics and part numbers included!)

Hopefully, this will be a 2way thread- You can help me by confirming what it is exactly, I can help you by showing you what part numbers are on it all so you know what to order :D

I'd normally post this in the Holset part numbers thread, but I'm not enough of a post-whore to be allowed in yet it seems ROFL

The turbo is a brand new Holset, HX52 i think, with a 16cm exhaust side, external gate ex' housing, T4 flange with the usual slightly different to Garrett bolt pattern, V-band clamps holding the housings on, and a V-band exhaust outlet.

Compressor... HX52? HX55? Anyone know?

Hope this helps people, and hopefully someone can give me info on it too!

Going by Garrett GT specs, its somewhere between a GT4088 and GT4094, but with an exducer even bigger, almost GT4202 size.
Going by Garrett terms youd say the turbo is good for 750bhp, just more efficient at high boost pressures.

BUT people seem to say Holsets do far more power than Garretts for the wheel size, so I'll let you Holset experts say what this turbo really can push out...

i think its a holset hx-55. i just bought and installed the hx-35 on my car and it looks nothing like that. but when i was searching on ebay for holset i seen something similar to that. it was listed as a holset hx-55. easy way of really finding out, go on ebay and type in holset hx-55. if that comes up theres ## answer.
 
Ive seen 52s and 55s that look identical in pics to that.

The point is though, like 35s, 40s, whatever, the number is just a VERY rough guide, there are different wheel and housing sizes etc on different versions of the same 52/55/whatever, giving the turbo different flow characteristics etc.

So would be good to know if anyone had info going by the actual wheel size, trim, blades, etc.
 
And being an HX50 its good for what power? I mean, I know what its good for if you go by Garrett inducer diameter, but it seems Holsets are magic...
 
An HX50 is good for 700hp

Where does that info come from though? Tried and tested proof?

Well if going by Garrett numbers and its wheel diameters it would be good for 700-800bhp. But seems Holsets behave differently...?

The later HX40s are good for 700bhp so suprised if this is only good for that, considering wheel sizes are bigger too.

the hx50 is similar to a gt42r.

Like said, in wheel size its between a 4088 and 4094, but from what people seem to say, Holsets produce more power for the wheel size than Garretts do.

This is why this would be more helpful to post in the Holset threads in the tech section, as its full of folk who use em, but thanks to this forums rules, its stuck in the newb section, LOL ROFL
 
The HX40 is good for 600hp, The HX50 is good for between 700-750.

Remember that just because you have a turbo of this size, does NOT mean that's how much power you are going to make. There are people with GT42s who do good to make 650hp then again there are some with the same turbo who are making well into the high 700 through high 800 horsepower range.

I know this is a newb statement but it has to be said sometimes.

So why is it said over and over on the Holset threads that a later HX35 has compressor flow for 600bhp and later HX40 have compressor flow for 700 then?
And this wheel is deffo larger?

700-750 is what idve guessed from whel size and experience with Garretts, but goes against what the Holset users seem to say?

And of course just because a compressor can flow it doesnt mean the engine will make it, but thats purely down to the way the engine setup has been specced/built/mapped, including using the wrong turbo for the job (there a lot more to turbos than compressor wheel flow...).
But thats not what im asking here of coruse.
