I have a MAF-T and Keydiver chip with the IAT and Baro inputs ignored in the code. I want to hook up an IAT sensor and log it on mmcd. So...

1. Which sensor should I use and where can I find one (for cheap if possible LOL

2. Where should it be placed?

3. If I hook it up to the stock ECU IAT pin, will it read correctly in mmcd (correct transfer function)?

And...

4. What could I (semi) accurately monitor and log on mmcd with the unused baro input?

I'm trying a bunch of stuff to lower my insane IATs, and want a clean way to monitor and log them.

My brother (snowborder714) posted this on the dsmlink forums and got a very helpful answer. Here it is.

I am interested in getting an AEM IAT sensor to log intake temps. I have read numerous threads on this subject and I am still confused on a few things:

1. Where should I put the sensor at? Would the upper intercooler pipe right before the throttle body be the best spot?

2. Since I have a MAFT, in DSMLink I am ignoring IAT/Baro. Because of this, the intake temp is always at 80. Is there any way I can use the IAT sensor to replace the MAFT's constant temp reading or can I only use the sensor to log my temps?

3. Even if it is possible to replace the MAFT's constant temp reading, should I?

Thanks everybody!

sillycon:
1) I have mine right before the throttle body elbow. That's probably the best place for it as you'll have minimal temp changes before the cylinders, and the air velocity is high enough that you shouldn't heat soak and screw up your readings.

2) Yes, you COULD replace the constant temp reading by turning off the "ignore IAT/Baro" box in dsmlink. You can also only use the sensor to log your temps.

3) Absolutely, positively not. This will totally screw up your airflow readings and make the car incredibly difficult, if not impossible to tune. The MAFT functionality requires the temp be at 80 to deliver an accurate reading.

Big props to sillycon for his help.
