I think I'm done with my 2G. Opinions needed.

save your motor and stuff and drop it into the 1g. Put your gsx stock then sell it and you can prob make a good amount of money because your car looks sick. Yeah people wouldnt give you $15k for it, if you just straight up sell it your gonna lose alot. Just a thought, why not save up some cash and get the 1g and keep your 2g as well, build the 1g slowly when you have the cash

dude come on, you're an icon because of this car and your ideas.

I say either keep it

or

return it to stock ( keep it awd though, and keep the body the same )

then sell it and buy a 1g and put ALL of your parts from the 2g on it.

so really you don't lose money.

like pick up the 1g for what you sell the 2g for...or even less.

and then just transfer parts.

i believe its time for me to apply for a loan... I was in awe after i seen this car at the shootout. Even had to check if the pants were wet.

2G's are such a more neutral car for road racing and drag racing. My question is, why not get into SCCA. EVERY SINGLE PERSON DRAGS. You never hear about eclipses in Scca. No offense gixxerdrew but its a fwd rag top. Lets be honest, look at the crazy amount of work he had to put into that car to be competitive. I would love to see Paul enter into a GT class race and see how he competes. Thats what i would do. And Paul, you have all the knowledge and ability, and tools to do it, take the next step. Real racers take turns!

I say take all your performance stuff out of it and put it into a lighter chassis like a gutted and lightened mirage or colt and make it a race car so your not completely starting over on the build. Put a stock engine in that car and sell it. Then find the parts or a parts car and make your mirage or colt awd, that's what I did with my civic when I decided to part with my 99 anniversery gsx.

I "get it" GST_racer... What you enjoy most, is building a car with your own two hands. Now that you have built an incredible DSM, with almost nothing left to do to, your almost bored. Sell the 2G, start fresh... Then you can build another car from scratch :) but please!!! No stickers on the 1G :p jk!!

I think you need to get it immortalized in a magazine and/or internet article first. I'm tire of seeing what people have done to their civic hatches, 240's, and 350z's in these magazines. Let some real dsm ingenuity and power show them how its done :hellyeah:

go to a simple easy to maintain single turbo setup and keep it! and drive it on the weekends. you know u will regret selling it.

then build your 1g beast!

Im sure if you posted your car up for sale somewhere there will be a person looking for a "one off" 2g dsm. There are people out there with money to spend so why not just post it up and see what people shoot you for offers. If I was in your situation I would personally keep the car. I admire your car and your work so much. But thats just me. If you are truly tired of the car sitting then why not sell it to someone knowing that they will enjoy it and the car will get the attention it so deserves.

I took this as "I think I'm done modding my 2G, time to build a race-only 1G!" instead of "Time to sell my 2G and start over".

1G builds are nice- the cars are lighter, they have a more durable rear end setup and what seems to be better suspension for drag racing, and they look a little more "racey" in my opinion where the 2G's are gorgeous street monsters. When you go to a dragstrip, most of the super-fast cars are 1980 or older models....you won't see anyone building a 2006 'Vette into a race-only car, so that's why I appreciate the 1G's more as race-only cars than 2G's.

I'd keep the 2G as you have it, then buy a 1G chassis and build it how you like it from the ground up.

On that note- I think Curt Brown's 1G shell / chassis parts are still available.... :D

This car is a steal at 15k! I cannot believe that there is no one on this forum who would not jump at the chance to sit in this ride and call it their own. We all know how much it would cost to paint this shell the way it is painted let alone buy the motor/tranny set up after someone has perfected it like Paul has. I personally ride in this car any time he takes the cover off and backs it out of the garage. I have a lot of very rich friends with very expensive high end cars and what you have Paul will shake the doors off of all of them. That's before you hit second gear! I grin at my friends that spent 85k + on cars that cannot even come close to this beast. Cheers to you mate on building the fastest car I have ever sat in! The fastest thing I have ever seen! I thought the Nascar I drove was BA. Not anymore.... Sad to see you let her go...

It's a really fast street car, that I hardly drive anymore. I don't cruise around alot like I used to, and so it just sits in the garage for the most part.

Give me your opinions, guys.

That's how I feel. Once I stopped DDing the Eclipse, I started to think about selling it every 6-12 months. Then you take a drive or go to the Shootout and realize how bummed you would have been if it was gone.

They are money pits, so it's almost never worth selling unless you're rolling in cash and don't care about taking a huge loss every time you sell a car. You need to understand that once you build them you just keep them. It's money already spent and the car will be waiting for you whenever you're ready. That's how I try to justify it sitting idle in the garage.

I don't know how much you'll like racing either. Did you ever track the 2g much? It seems like fun, but a race car that you can't drive on the street is an awful large investment for something you use a few time per year. So you'll be in the same predicament with a built 1g drag car, looking at it in the garage wishing it was somehow more useful.

Are you the type that likes building them more than driving/racing them?

I'd put it back to stock to sell. People will pay more for a bone stock unmolested car than a modded one. Cars aren't investment tools, except in very rare cases, like those classic cars you see on those auction shows on TV.

its not that easy. I for sure thought my 1g would be gone by now. I dont have a crazy dual turbo setup, but I have a pretty damn clean 1g. I thought the same thing you just said, "someone out there will be looking for a crazy clean 1g and have the money!"

Nope! LOL Still sittin on the car. Like said above, cars are not and investment. it kinda sucks, you can throw so much money into them and get only half if your lucky!

I do really like your 2g Paul, it's clean, well kept, well built, etc. But having a car that sits most of the time and the only "fun" you have with it is driving it around the block to a meet or to the dyno for tuning doesn't sound like that great a time to me. You could turn the 2g into a racecar, but as you've said you'd rather build a 1g which would be cheaper and seems to be the better platform for drag racing. If I were you I'd part ways and do something new, but I'm going to tell you in alot of ways you'll regret getting rid of it, no matter how much you enjoy the new project. I regret every car I've ever sold or parted even though this current ride is the most fun, it's something you grow attached to. In the end think of what you'll regret more, keeping this ride and it just sitting in a garage most of it's life, or selling it and building a very fast, very unique 1g drag machine that you can take to the track and flog whenever you want.

Maybe raffle the car off? sell raffle tickets for around $30 per ticket. Post online and get the word out on your local craigslist , post flyers..... etc... you could probably get more money that way , im sure everyone on here would probably buy atleast one ticket for the chance to own that car......$30per ticket + 1,000 people =$30,000 :thumb:

I know a local that paid $15k for his 240sx with an sr swap and body kit. He was out of the military though and had the cash to spend.

There's people out there that will pay, just not many of them.

these are the only guys that I have had get a hold of me about my car, none of them have come through though.

It didn't cross your mind to just click the O.P.'s profile? WTF

Clearly that did not occur to me... :coy:

You can't sell that, I would just take it to the next level rather then moving to a 1g. Worth every cent of 15k. IMO

If I put that kind of money, labor, and love in to a car I would never sell. Unless someone offered me a ton of cash. I however get the idea you are bored with the car. But keep it and build another. Or convert it your race car. If I ever get to a finishing point with me car (which I doubt I will, in the next 10 years) I would pick up an newer EVO for a project, if they still exist then.

you won't see anyone building a 2006 'Vette into a race-only car :D

Maybe not a c6, but a c5 vet holds the IRS record.

To the OP, I say keep the car. It's paid off and it's the car you are known for. If your looking to start fresh, just start saving and buy a stock 1g, maybe swap engines and have a clean 2g, and take the compound turbo engine and put it in the 1g. Then you'd have a 6 bolt swapped 2g, and a built 1g.
