I need Palm m130softwear/? is this why logger wont work

I bought a newer Palm M130 off ebay, and bought a logger cable from the guy that sells them here on dsmtuners. The problem is I can not get my palm to hot/sink with my laptop, I click the button on the cradle and it says it failed to communicate.

I installed the softwear that came with it and even dowloaded the softwear from Palms website....The problem is (MY FRIEND SAYS) that I do not have the handheld softwear, and Palm does not give or sell that softwear, he says the free download sofwear is only for the hot/sink.

Does anyone know about all this, I've had my palm/cable for 3 weeks now and still can't log yet.

I will paypal someone $10 or give a palm logger cable(i got two) for a copy of the actuall Palm HANDHELD softwear,(not the hotsink softwear).

I just noticed that I am not supposed to ask for softwear, so never mind on what I said. but can anyone tell me what to do, or where I can buy the softwear I need,, Or the best question is, COULD THIS BE THE REASON I CAN'T CONNECT, IS THERE EVEN SUCH A THING AS THE HANDHELD SOFTWEAR??????

No, there is no software that needs to go on the palm device in order to connect to the computer. As long as you have the palm desktop software running on your computer; that's the first step. What OS are you running on your computer? I know if win98se, when I boot the computer, I get a little red and blue symbol (looks like a yen-yang) at the bottom right of the screen letting me know that hot sync is running on my desktop computer, and is waiting for the palm to be attached. When you attach the palm, all it does is create an interrupt for the software on the desktop computer to take a look at the palm.

So do you have a little yen-yang symbol at the bottom right? If you do, then you might have to change what "port" your palm connects to on your computer; com1, com2...

Thanks for the info, My friend said that was the only thing he could think of, but doubted.

And yes I do have the little hot/sink icon at the bottom of my screen, and I use Windows XP Pro. This sucks so bad, I am out of ideas on getting this palm to hotsink connect to my laptop. ANY IDEAS VERY WELCOME!!!!!!

About the only other thing I can recommend is if you double click on the hot sync icon at the bottom right, then click "setup", select "local", and try the different "COM" ports listed. You might have to reboot after each one just to make sure the switch takes place. My desktop is setup on COM1.

Other than that, if you have a manual, consult that for trouble shooting on basic palm hot syncing to the desktop.

For god's sake, it's not a warm place to wash your hands. It's a hotsync.

I think I have tried everything and it seems this Palm is screwed, I guess I am going to trash it and buy another one , I will never buy another electronic off ebay again.

I am buying a 16g in the morning and I need to see my logs, I can not wait any longer.

Big or small 16g? You should be able to run decent boost (14 or 15psi) with no problems, or at least until you get a new logger. By the way I sent you a pm.
