I need help with a template (home made wheel spacers)

Given that my tire just barely, barely, rubs the inner knuckle I was going to have my neighbor hook me up with a couple aluminum sheet metal plates to squeeze behind the rim. The plates will be 1/4 of an inch, is that too much for the stock lug bolts?. I was wondering if there was any way you guys help help me make a computer template to give my neighbor.........

That will be too much for the stock studs i have 5mm spacers are probobly too big just a few threads on the stock stud caught. Home made parts are not very safe to put between your wheels and hubs. You could get a manufactured set of 5mm spacers for $40-$50 that is worth the peice of mind and if your home built ones are not balanced your car will vibrate.

You're going to need longer studs. 8 full turns of thread engagement of the lug nuts is minimum. I believe with stock wheels and studs you get about 10 or 11 full turns. Spacing 1/4 inch will bring you down to about 6.

Why don't you test spacing 1 or 2mm with washers. You may find you need much less than the 6mm (1/4) spacers you proposed. I don't recommend leaving washers on there though.
