Ok I just bought a 16 turbo with no shaft play for $100...yeah $100 I struck gold but before I put it on I am going to buy some other bolt ons to go with it. Please tell me if I am thinking on the right track or not.

16g turbo - Got it
16g install kit
Evo 3 o2 housing
FMIC
Flashed ECU with EVOScan
walbro 255 - Got it
fuel pump rewire kit
Fuel pressure regulator
tubular header - Got it

I am also thinking of spending $1500 for a built 1g 7 bolt shortblock from the DSM graveyard with Evo 9 pistons and rods.

So please tell me if I am thinking on the right path or not.

I know I should get a EPROM ECU with DSMlink. but i can't find the whole bundle for $300 like I did with the flashed ECU and EVOScan

Have pictures of the turbo and what is "the right path"?? What are you trying to do?

I dont know if you want to run a tubular manifold on a daily driver.....they crack and get exhaust leaks like crazy.....on a strip/track car you should. If you do get dsm link make sure you dont get the v2 get v3. Injectors are a must have to get anywhere. I'm assuming you have exhaust but if not you should get a 3 inch back kit. If I think of any others I'lll post it later! Plus I just bought a 6 bolt short block with evo 9 pistons and arp main and rod bolts/studs with race bearings!! Havent fired it up yet but I'm looking forward to it!!

You'll also need injectors, the rest of the exhaust after the o2 housing, intake filter and pipe, and a better bov.

i suppose it depends on who will be tuning it. Dsmlink is very user friendly however i have delt with evoscan and openecu and that takes more getting use to. If i were you i would spend the extra and get dsmlink. If you can drop that much on a motor why not

Like the others asked. What is the right track? Are you going for full race? Weekend drag? Street machine? V8 killer? What are your HP, 1/4, TQ, etc goals? That'll help us give you a better idea. Injectors are always a must with bigger turbos. Stock 2G BOV won't hold much,

You'll want tuning for sure. DSMLink is all around best, but as you want to get bigger numbers and serious, you want to go with AEM EMS or something along those lines.

Also, you can have the best 02 housing in the world, but your stock system is restrictive. No point in trying to feed the beast more than it can eat, you'll just choke it. A nice 3" full turboback exhaust w/ or w/o a high flow cat is best. You can make all the power you want, but it needs to get exhaust out as well as it can bring it in.

About the built 7 bolt, this will depend on your goals also. You may not need to blow so much money if you won't be going too high. Try to think before you buy any parts. Like, is it really worth buying a MAF Translator for like $200+ when you know you'll be needing DSMLink later on you know? Make yourself a wishlist, and always revise it, think about your purchases, don't jump into them.

READ::::::::I can't stress this enough. Do ALL of your maintenance first. Timing belt, engine, tcase, tranny, diff oil, replace worn parts, check crankwalk, plugs, wires, filter, boost leak test, etc... do it all.

well I already have a 3" turbo back exhaust, I just ordered my evo 3 o2 housing and intercooler kit. The ECU I am playing to get is from DSMchips.com it is a flashed 98/99 with EVOscan, and another $100 I can get whatever injectors I want. I want a weekend drag/ V8 killer car.

I have a HKS BOV already so there is no need to buy another one. I don't have pictures of the Turbo yet. But I do know it is Evo 3 Big 16g (49178-01470)

I am looking at a rewire kit for my fuel pump now and a fuel pressure regulator. Would it hurt to look at a SAFC also?

What's the right track? Are you looking to make the car faster for fun? or intend to race?

Here's basically ALL you should have

-a cold air intake
-a good blow off valve (anything not a stock 2g)
-fmic (or atleast hard piping for the side mount
-manual boost controller
-190lph or more fuel pump (255lph needs an adjustable fuel pressure regulator)
-bigger injectors (550's are good, 650's are ideal)
-gauges (a common combo is boost, wideband air/fuel ratio, and oil pressure)
-some tuning device (dsm link, safc, etc)
-bigger exhaust from the downpipe back
