I need a picture of a 2g Spyder trunk without a spare

Okay so I can't find a picture of a bare Spyder trunk anywhere. I believe there may be a problem with mine but am completely unaware. Did the inside of the 2g Spyder trunk come with any kind of "undercoating" inside of it to prevent rust? I can't find this info anywhere, I have searched.

No theres not.. Why couldnt you just go out and take the spare out? I just cut mine out. Not only was it rusting, but it was heavy and collected a lot of junk that I didnt need.

I did take mine out and noticed someone undecorated the inside of yhe trunk. Possibly rusted I'm not sure. Did you weld a new trunk in then? I bought a Spyder with 49k original miles and payed a good penny for it so I am disappointed to find this.

I'm 99.9% sure he deleted the spare tire well all together. That's what I'm going to do as well.

Yeah I'm planning to cut mine out as well when I swap to AWD. I'm guessing people run without windshield wiper fluid when they cut it all out or have people relocated the reservoir? Only asking cause my windshield always gets dirty during the winter.

I'm planning on removing it as well then I think. Anyone out there have a good write up on it? Just simply removing the old piece and then welding in a flat one correct? I am deleting the resivour and the spare and have no use for either.

I'm curious how crash cut his out, I was going to use a jig saw and mark out exactly where I wanted to cut. Then use a cardboard trace out the area and get a piece of sheet metal cut and rivet it in place.

Plus welded in a couple cross beams. Then some sealant around the edge of the new metal and tack welded it to the cross bars. Didnt need to be pretty, just functional.

Hey crash did you keep your windshield wiper fluid reservoir or delete it? Just curious where you relocated it in the case you did keep it.

Nope, deleted it. The car doesnt see the winter so it really wasnt necessary.

I've sprayed truck bed liner in my spare tire area. I travel a good bit, but my tires won't work with the size of the spare, so it's gone. I have my battery relocated back there, along with a bag of tools, flares, jumper cables, and some ratchet straps. It all fits nicely under a plywood floor I made to replace the flimsy (especially without the spare) particle/card board original cover.

The truck bed liner keeps some of the metal bits from rattling against the other metal bits. Plus it helps with rust that was starting to form because of a leaky washer fluid spout.

I don't know how to weld but I have a buddy that knows how to. How hard of a Job would it be to weld out the entire trunk and put in a new piece of metal? Cost estimate? What type of metal and thickness should I be using?
