i have obd gauge on my laptop with palm emulator and it does read the engine data but it won't log. i need a program that will log the data.

i'm using a elm 323 interface cable.

Try wOBD. Just do a google search for it. If you can't find it (the page isn't loading for me) then just send me a PM and I'll send you the zip file. It's what worked best on my car. Don't expect a blazing fast connection though. I only hit 4 samples/sec max with any OBD logger I found.

i have that one but i havent tried it yet, i didnt know you could log with it ? i'll try it.....

Save this way so that you can easily open it in Excel to make graphs.

Evoscan lists support for 1G/2G now:

Mitsubishi OBDII DataLogger - EvoScan

Being able to log the stock ECU won't really accomplish much, considering you can't adjust any parameters such as timing. You could really just get a wideband that comes with it's own logging software and just use that.

I second the above statement though, get DSMlink. You can pick up a used copy of V2 pretty cheap now, and you'll have the ability to upgrade it to V3 later if you need more funtionality.

You could always drop the dough and get ECMLink, or and old DSMLink V2 setup.

I surely don't think its worth 5-600 bucks to be able to log better.

If you want better logging and amazing tuning capabilities, go with an Evo8 ECU. They are great for logging and for tuning. There are so many ECU mods available it's nuts.

Plus, until the new V3, you didn't even tune the maps with link, it was like a fancy ECU based AFC tune with 2D maps.

Boy you just have no idea what you are talking about huh? :ohdamn: Have you ever even used dsmlink?

No I havent, but if you don't know that before V3 the maps were 2D, you haven't even looked at the screens or read about it. The tuning is by rpm, not rpm and load like 3D maps are. I've been on their website many times.

People aren't reading this thread to know about link, so lets get back to the topic of this thread.

i'm not going to link guys i already have tunerpro and an ostrich ! i just need a program that will log and save my runs so i can review the data !

Does TMO work on 2g's? If so i have that for you. If not any OBD2 software should work.

i think i tried the tmo logger and couldn't get it to work. but i think it was maybe a problem with my serial to usb converter changing the com ports around !

Then stop posting.

OK Mr knowitall. Whatever you say.

You are the one starting off topic stuff that helps no one. He wants JUST a logging program, not dsmlink.

I'm here to help not to push expensive things on people that don't want/need them. Tunerpro and an ostrich is the way to go for tuning. Cheap and awesome. I too wish I knew the solution to logging a 95 though.

If you can wait it out, we do plan to release free logging support in our ECMLink application as soon as we get a chance. Or at least we were. All this bashing I keep seeing of our stuff really bums me out, though. We try to give back as much as we can and keep costs as low as possible on everything we can and yet we get slammed constantly with all kinds of false claims and derogatory comments. I don't feel much like giving back to people like that.

At this point, though, we do still have plans to add free MUT, OBD 1, OBD2 and hybrid support to our ECMLink application. Until then, maybe watch what Ceddy is working on in this thread. It shouldn't be long before he'll have '95 MUT hybrid mode working.

About the dsm/ecm link war. i think it is great for people who have the money and don't want to go through the hassle of learning how to use tunerpro, but i for one am a computer tech and love to learn about new or different technology !

well guys i bought evoscan and can't get it to connect even though a few people have ! anybody know how to get evoscan to connect to a 95 eprom ?

I like how a guy asks about logging and here comes a dsmlink war.

Someone suggested link and I said it wasn't worth 500 bucks for a logger. I never said link was only good for logging, my comment was worded that way because he ONLY NEEDS A LOGGER and he already has a great tuning device.

Burnett03 - From the comments all over this forum, it looks like most people that have link love it. That's great and I'm happy for you all, but to push it on everyone and act like everyone needs it is foolish. Plus I was not bashing link, I was stating a fact that until V3, you didn't actually edit the maps but offset them by percentages with a 2D map. For most people I'm sure that is a fine way to tune but some of us like more control than that by tuning the actual maps and seeing the real values (and doing it while saving money, that's the real plus). Yes there are options in link that most EPROM tuners haven't figured out yet, someday that will probably change.

Those of us that use tunerpro with an emulator or chip burner get knocked by link users all the time and get told, "Oh, you gotta get dsmlink". It's in every single discussion where tuning comes up. It gets sickening. That's what I have against link -- the people pushing it on all the rest of us constantly like it's the only tuning option for the stock ECU. It's nothing against ECMTuning or their actual product -- the ECMTuning guys are probably the most knowledgeable people around for these ECU's, it just seems like many of the dsmlink users think they are above the non-link users. You should be able to understand how me, and other non-link users are sick of hearing it. Learning to tune on my own is one of the funnest parts of having a dsm.

to Thomas from ECMTuning -- for 95 ECUs do you change the whole protocol in your link setup to get decent logging or have you figured out how to make due with how the 95 ecu works (I'm taking about logging rates).

Everyone has said how no matter what they use (even evoscan), the logging rates are super slow. I only get like 3.3 samples per second on any of the ODBII loggers, and only probably 4-5 -samples-per-sec using them on an Evo 8. On Fords and GMs, the OBDII programs work great. I have yet to try evoscan since the cable fried after only two days on an Evo 8 and we're waiting for a new 1.3U cable. I get around 100 samples-per-sec on an Evo 8 with evoscan.

I'm keeping my eye on that other thread with ceddy about logging. To those of you on this thread that haven't seen that thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tun.../326872-mhiscan-new-free-datalogger-dsms.html

AMEN BROTHER........ i took my car out last night on my passport g-timer which is very close to track times i have compared with other cars. my car is a 2g fwd with ported 14b 7cm housing and my first run on street tires was 13.75@ 110.00 on 10-11 psi i turned the boost up to 14-15 and it went [email protected] and it is a very weak safe tune ! tuning is the best parts but i need to log this thing bad so i can turn the wick up !

I'm going to ignore most of the previous post by jrohner. Suffice to say, we (jrohner and I) have different interpretations of his wording. And the major edit of his previous post left my original response above looking a little out of place...

The functionality we provide is WAY more than anything you'll ever get out of a factory setup, 1G, 2G, or EVO. We're logging 1000+ samples a second and that could be made much higher if we thought it was necessary. At idle, we're logging faster than the crankshaft interrupt is firing. So, yeah, it's a complete rewrite of the entire communication layer as would be necessary to get any decent logging behavior out of it.

Here's another tidbit of info...our 1G code base has more code written by us in it than was originally provided by Mitsubishi! We've rewritten and recoded just about everything imaginable. And we've highly optimized large sections of Mitsubishi code to ensure smooth operation over 10,000 RPM. It's running smoother than factory code! *Especially* on the 1G platform, which is severely hampered by hardware constraints. I should probably post some o-scope shots to illustrate sometime. Mitsubishi never intended the engine/ECU, particularly the 1G, to be run that fast.

I'm keeping my eye on that other thread with ceddy about logging.
Yeah, it's going to be pretty nice once it's done.
