pulled the rail and fuel just poured out...so i know im gettin pressure..
pulled the plugs and grounded each one and saw a nice spark...
bought a new ecu and main relay...
it cranks...and cranks... sputter....but it wont start.. i dont get it...
ive checked out the marks. Everything is at TDC.
and another thing.. ---why does my upper intercooler pipe get hot during crank? is that normal?

You might check your ignition control module "power transistor" down by the coil pak. If it's bad, the car won't start.

Greg

yea, i got compression.. sittin at 140-160.....
and i got 2 transistors.. 1 looks like it has a bad electrical burn (that white stuff usually found in a dizzy cap, forgot what its called..)
and the 2nd one i tried and still same issue; 1 question about it, does it have to be mounted?

And theres a little capacitor sitting on the intake manifold... is that for the coilpack? and how important is it?. I may need a new one.

--but i still dont understand the hot upper ic pipe.. ????

Right....because that's an accurate way to test fuel pressure.

Again, doesn't tell you whether the plug is firing under compression or not.

So you're throwing parts at the car without knowing if it's a spark-related or fuel-related issue. :thumb:

Have you tried using starting fluid to see if the engine will fire? This would obviously rule out a spark issue.

If there's no combustion happening there's no boost from the turbo....so there's no way the cold-side of the intercooler piping would be warm.

thanks :) all that info actually made me :ohdamn: facepalm myself a few times over.. haha. but how would i test if the plug is firing under compression?

You said it sputters like it's trying to start? Have you checked your CTS (Coolant temp sensor)? When they go bad they will flood the engine out and cause it to sputter but not start very well, in a lot of cases adding starter fluid just makes it worse.

Another thing, have you replaced your plugs? They COULD be fouled out. Had it happen on my N/T. Put a new clutch in it and after 3 days of it sitting (didn't touch anything ignition) the shitty plugs that were in it were fouled out.

You need a $5 can of starting fluid. Then move to a 15 dollar fuel pressure tester. Then possibly a Multimeter. They will collectivly save you alot of time and money in the future

Did you check to make sure your firing order is correct since you are using a CAS and have a 95 ECU which is programmed for the inverted cas on a 95. You will have to swap the Blue/Black wire and the Blue wire at the coil connector in order to have the correct firing order.
