I love my car...I really do..but this is the first year I have decided to hold off going getting it inspected because of the problems with the vehicle..normally I go get it passed illegally..but this year I'd like to actually FIX the problems...the problems you may ask:

- The windshield wipers GOT stripped when I pulled them off, so need new ones

- The rims are supposed to be universal but something is wrong with them the tires keep getting misaligned and I lose my front pair every 6 months or so...so I need 4 new rims, and 2 new tires

- The freakin Airbag system broke (I have no clue how to fix it), the SRS light is constantly on now

- The front windshield has been broken for the entire life of the vehicle, that needs to be fixed

- The trunk button needs to be fixed, the metal piece came disconnected from the switch

- Cruise Control doesn't want to work anymore..it "turns on" but it doesn't work

- The fuel cap needs a new spring so the door will open when I pull on the switch

- Needs a new front bumper, the Invader front bumper has been put through hell..and the fiberglass jobs just aren't cutting it, 2gb front or stillen here I come.

- Needs a new water pump, and mind as well replace the timing belt too

- Needs a new O2 Sensor, still get good gas mileage..but still it needs to be fixed.

Most of it isn't REQUIRED fixing but I'm tired of the car not being COMPLETELY functional for me, the littlest things are bothering me...so I'm punishing myself and I'm not going to go get it inspected until I am done fixing the beast. Fortunately I have a new job paying $14 an hour compared to my $9 that would barely get me through bills.

Other than blowing of steam I do have a few questions:
1. How do I go about getting the air bags fixed..or at the VERY least get the light off?
2. How do I go about getting the wipers fixed if it isn't the actual wiper assembly instead it could be the base?

As for the air bags, you can just pull out the little light bulb from the back of the instrument cluster. That's what I did with my ABS light. As for the wipers, I don't know. Order new stock ones from Mitsu or raid the nearest junkyard.

I'm thinking that at this point, the general consensus is that you need to go down to wal-mart and cough up the $50 for a new battery.

If your trying to start your car without a battery and just a charger thats your problem. It takes alot of current to crank an engine over. You need a good battery......14 volts means nothing if you cant supply the amount of current the starter needs to turn the motor over.

That.... ah.... has nothing to do with the rims.

OMG, you're using a jump pack? those things suck. go spend 50 bucks and get a brand new battery. If the starter just clicks it could only be a few possible problems.

Im with him, this happened to me before to, sometimes the jumpbox wont do the trick. 50 bux for a new battery or swap one that you know is good out of another car (dads) :shhh: just to see if it will crank :thumb: Goodluck man dont give up.
BTW......autozone can test your starter for free.....I should know I work there

i used to be a manager. :thumb: autozone sucks. :thumbdown

think about it. a battery charger slowly charges a battery. If it had a 50 amp start, then maybe it will help. You need a good battery.
Ever try to jump start a completely dead battery that if volts were dynamite, it wouldn't have enough to blow your nose? Doesnt work the first couple times, or at all. You have to wait til the volts reach at least 12.1 or so to give the car any life.

Stop procrastinating and buy a god damn battery already

i can't say that i recommend a battery from checker either... i have one in my dsm, and it doesn't handle the cold very well. so i guess it's a good thing that i don't need to drive it in the winter (yet).

Then the shop was just running their mouths..they were saying the viberation I get when going above 60MPH was caused by the rims..I figured that would be the cause of frequent misalignments I get on the front end.

I have had an optima red top for the last 6 years and its worth every penny. It never fails me. My alternator went out and it got me 100+ miles home. 100 bucks at knechts.

i got a brand new battery from advanceautoparts. i got the silver. anyway. I put the battery in the car turn the key, click.....shit. Sorry you battery buffs, that wasnt it.

*I dont have a radio in so i stuck my hadn in there and touched the ECU.

*a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on...hmm

*I touched it again the CEL went off..hmmm

*I took off the side panels and wouldnt you know it the ecu only had 1 bolt holding it in. I put the other 2 in there and then tried to start it again...click.

*Its funny because now that i'm paying attention to it i hear the clicking coming from the ECU

*Since we are at a professianl garage we try and hook the diagnostic scanner up to it... all it says it "cannot connect to the ECU"...hmmm

what sayest you DSM community.

maybe your ecu fried or the capasitors leaked common on 1G dont mind my spelling LOL i dont know if that would cause it not to crank my 1g had a new ecu in it when i bought it

please expand on that...

If he had a dead ECU the starter would still turn the motor over. The motor would not start of course. I know from first hand experience.

WOW

the search function really works :p after all my reading it seems that my ECU caps are the last area to check.
seeing as my ecu clicks when i turn the key, and my interior instruemt cluster and HVAC lights dont work.

I saw you can buy the caps offline but i need them today so i can get them soldered tomorrow. can yall recommend a local store that would have them.

The search would tell you that too. ;)

Check Radio Hack.

I'm telling you, I had a totally dead ECU in my Talon and it would still turn over. Checking the ECU caps is still not a bad idea though, since you don't want to be screwed like I was when the car stopped running 3 blocks from the house.

i went to their website and they dont have them :( they have some but not the exact specs the vfaq says.

anypalce else.

it's not total bullsh*t.. they're probably talking about hub-centric wheels and such.

I never really bothered listening to their b*tching. Methinks you need an alignment, or have a different suspension problem

YA i just bout them at a local electronics store. cost me $2.68. I will try and get them solderd in tomorrow. I'll post results. :D
