As many of you have probably heard, Rob xxxxx (last name removed to prevent embarassment
) and I have been planning to race his 5.0L V8 Mustang against my 2.4L I4 Eclipse Spyder for this entire week. Certain discrepencies and complications prevented us from doing it until today, but it was definetly worth the wait.
The odds were all in his favor. He has 225 hp stock, compared to my 141, and his car weighs in at 100 less pounds than mine (2900). We all knew I was going to get raped, but I thought it would be fun, so I didn't care.
It took us approx. a mile to get around traffic. We raced from a stop 3 times succesfully, and ALL 3 of those times, I beat him! Yes, I couldn't believe it either.
Here's a brief summary of what happened in each respective race:
1st race: I out accelerate him and he can't catch up. Race ends prematurely due to merging traffic.
2nd race: He launches harder than me and stays ahead of me for a few secs, but as soon as I complete 2nd gear, I'm past him. By the end of 4th, he's 5-7 cars behind me.
3rd race: We both floor it through a curve changing our direction and he can't catch up to me.
I really have no idea how I beat him. My only guess is that he's a really shitty driver. I base this on the fact that he had both windows down and his radio blasting, which we all know diverts power from the engine.
This was my first ever premeditated race. It was definetly a thrill and I hope to do it again in the future. MY next target: my other friend's modded 5.0 Mustang.
Muhaha!
P.S. My car is completely stock
