Hey guys. Having a little brain fart here. Never really seen a specific answer to this regardless of searching. I recently came across a g4cp long block, that runs great. Ive currently got it installed in my car as an experiment. Now somewhere along the lines, the previous owner removed the oil filter housing, and threw the damn thing away. :ohdamn::ohdamn:

This is a 6 bolt bottom end, big rods, etc. Now i have 6 bolt oil filter housing, and 7 bolt filter housings, and NEITHER of them fit the front case that is on the engine. The front case that is on it, has a 7 bolt timing tensioner, and a spot for the 7 bolt crank sensor, however no sensor. Im curious to know if i might be able to just swap a 6 bolt front case onto this engine? I have a new front case, and an oil filter housing to go with it.

EDIT: Now that i think about it, doesnt the oil filter housing bolts actually thread into the block itsself??

Ideally id like to use the 6 bolt oil pump/case/filter housing. However, im not sure everything else in the block lines up, although its a 6 bolt?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes, the OFH bolts to the block, but it goes through the front case -- thus you need both components matching the block for it to work. If neither the 6-bolt or 7-bolt DSM OFH's bolt up on the G4CP front case, then neither a 6-bolt or 7-bolt DSM front case will "bolt up" to the block.

Apparently, this isn't new information: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cylinder-head-short-block/201033-omfg-sold-me-92-g4cp-block-livid.html#post1758426 and http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cylinder-head-short-block/224290-oil-pump-front-case.html#post50339160

G4CP? Never heard of that one unless it's a 2.0. I know the 2.4 G4CS Hyundai block will take the 6-bolt front cover and OFH, the factory Hyundai one definitely won't work with some of the Mitsu components.
