Hydro Locked Motor... How To Fix?!?!!?!?

so i bought a 1997 5 speed talon the other day and the guy i bought it from said he was ran off the road into a decent sized puddle and the AEM intake sucked in all the water. its a 420A engine from an eclipse. i havent really done anythign with the car cause i have no idea what to do. i was planning on swapping motors, but i was told it can be fixed. can it? the guy said the cylinders had 0 compression(idk if he meant all or just one or two) but the engine does turn over freely, it just doesnt catch fire. what should i do? remove the head? drop the oil pan? or what? Help please. im a beginner mechanic. thanks so much for the replies. (if i get any)

Engine is 99% toast if theres water in it, pull all the plugs and drain the oil to see if theres any in there.
Don't crank the engine with the plugs in it!
Might even have to take off the intake manifold to make sure theres no water hangin around.

well first is first check compression yourself and then if you are getting no fire change your plugs then if not after that pull the head off and see why you arent getting any compression (probably rings then)

but then check for water in the tank just pour some rubbing alcohol in there it will dry up the water if there is any and then change your oil

and if there is any water in the cylinders pull the plugs and crank it over

start with dropping the oil. i work for toyota and about a year ago we had a brand new highlander come in hydrolocked, the tech dropped the oil and the first half came out looking normal, then the last half was all milky looking. he put oil back in it and after a mintute it started again. maybe youll be that lucky

You may have bent rods and/or the crank. You'll have to open it up to see just how bad it is.

This happened to my Dad's boat. Hended up getting the engine rebuilt. Not a fun summer
