Both the radiator and AC fan don't come on. A mechanic was replacing the Temp sensor to try and fix the problem last month, and somehow managed to snap the sensor in half, inside the housing. It looks as if the whole thermostat housing and sensors will need to be replaced, as there is no way to get this sensor out. This is the major problem with the car, and since there is currently know way to monitor the coolant temps.

Anyone have any clue at how hard this would be to fix...is it hard to get to? How much money etc....

Im looking at buying a car and these are the only problems and just wondering what it would be like to fix it. Thanks!

Im guessing you are talkin about the sensor that is in the bottom of the radiator. i broke mine but it was really easy to get it out. Evan so i hardwired my fans to come on together with a switch and so they can stay on all the time.

So it probably wouldnt be a good idea to drive the car until this is fixed...I should probably tow it back home right...? (We own a tow truck) If i do happen to purchase this car.

If you have A/C or the button for it, running that button will activate both of your fans. So will bridging the connection to the thermo sensor.
BTW the thermo sensor that controls the fans is located on the radiator, I don't know why you said your mechanic was on the thermostat housing. Sounds like he need's to get to work.
