I had some time to take some pics of the two turbos today and thought i would share,

this is for the he351 and the hx35g (with 14cm/2) housing and some of the differance ive noticed and maybe some ppl can clairify a few things.......

Snice the he351 has a bigger comp cover and a bigger comp wheel ... will it out flow the HX35?

since the hx35 has a larger exduc wheel then the he351 does this mean the later spool and more top end flow correct?? yes the hy will spool faster but will its top end be there as the hx35??? i have take messurements to make it clear... thank you

the he352is just oil cooled and the hx35 is oil and water cooled.

the he351 is v-band attaced exhaust the hx35 is 4 bolt on exhaust housing

they both share the same 7 blade comp fin design and oil drain..

to my best messurements..
hx35 77.31mm exducer/base 49.16mm inducer/top 30.08 tall comp wheel
exhaust 69.54mm exducer/base 59.79 inducer/top

What you have there is an He351 which has hx40 7-blade compressor and a hy35 turbine.
You can turn down the housing and make a custom flange which give you a lot more room to build a downpipe.
also block off the small 19mm waste gate hole which isn't very useful on a gas engine.

You do not have a HY35, you have a HE351.

The HE351 uses the same compressor as the 7-blade HX40, but with a turbine that is smaller than a HX35. No HY35's have an elbow on the compressor cover to my knowledge.

Might want to change your thread title so you do not mislead anyone.

still does not answer any questions....
I'm sorry- what information are you looking for aside from a 9cm turbine housing with a HY35-spec turbine wheel will never allow the 7-blade HX40 compressor to breathe at it's potential?

Also, your HX35 is a lil guy, not the standard HX everyone uses. The 7 blade HX35 has a 56mm wheel.
All 7-blade HY35 and HX35 compressors have a 54mm inducer. The only available 56mm HX35 compressor is an 8-blade.

The odd number of blades is what is messing up the O.P.'s measurements- you can't measure straight across too easily. The HX35 compressor inducer should be 54mm, and the HE351 compressor inducer should be 60mm.

thank you.. that helps.... so out of the hx35 and the he351 witch is a grater turbo for gains and power??? i know i could get the .70 bep housing... i mean in stock form? or does it just matter what my goals are???

.

Then why the hell does the faq say they are both 56mm? How much does the 54mm 7 blade flow? Also, what the hell is the 56mm 8 blade wheel I have. Its supposed to be a Wh1c, but I have a 20cm ex housing.
What does it flow?

there are so so so many combos for holsets its not even funny......

btw who has installed a HE351 ON a 2.0 dsm??? any one running good times??? or is it better to just cut the crap and get the 40?

the thing i like about the he351 is the smaller exhaust housing so it will spool nicely on the 2.0... true?

awd4g63honda went 11.14 on a HY35W, on a turbonetics manifold.

That's an hx35 and its wheel is no where near 54mm. So not ALL hx35's are 54/56mm.
I sold the turbo over a year ago, so i cant read off the numbers on the tag, but it said HX35.

Right....but it's also an 8-blade compressor, not a 7-blade. There are various 8-blade compressors used- the one you've shown is most likely a 52mm; the same that is used on a H1C.

As I said above, all 7-blade HX/HY35 compressors are 54mm. The 8-blades can be a variety of sizes.

The picture doesn't really give you a good idea of how small the inducer is.
It was smaller than 52mm. I put it side by side with two HX30's that I have and it looked to be about the same size, which is 44mm.
I might have pictures of it next to a different turbo or maybe a picture of it with a ruler from the for sale listing.

Non of this really matters. I'm just saying that there are many variations of HX35's and some are VERY different.

Another pic of the same oddball hx35
