I have an issue with my MAP mvs o2 housing fitting my bep HX40 Housing. I bought this thing a long time ago and just now checking fitment and I'm pissed. I didnt notice the small inlet size of the o2 housing. Will this cause major flow issues? I have grinded the most I can out of it and this is all I can do.

Knew I should of bought the punishment racing one :ohdamn:

Yeah I'm looking to buy the punishment racing one. Only issue is that they dont sell the o2 housing without the mvs pre-installed.

I read this thread and have been looking for a picture of the PR o2 housing flange side to see if it has a larger opening for turbine exhaust. I cant seem to find any pictures of the o2 housing flange side.

PR housing will only make a difference if it has a larger opening or ported....

Can you port the MAP o2 housing to match the BEP housing?

The punishment housing is supposed to have a around 2 1/2" flange while the MAP one is around 2 5/16" un-ported.

I have ported mine out as much as I can without going into the welds and its around 2 3/8".

That's not a good lip.

You should call punishment and tell them what you are wanting to do. Quicker than hoping they show up in this thread. They might have a really good reason for only selling them with the WG installed.

Just watched the video, yea its a huge difference in size.

I am currently running the MAP one but I dont have a turbine outlet of that size.

Would you be able to taper the inlet of the flange so that it mates flush with the turbine housing instead? It obviously will never be 2.5 inches but at least the turbulence of the exhaust gases would be decreased.

Its just a shame that such a nice piece that MAP offers can not be used with BEP housings.

they most likely sell it with it on because its a B*TCH to get off and on. I had to send mine in to MAP again to get the MVS attached, what a PITA.

Well Punishment have contacted me and I will be sending my mvs to them so they can build me one. On that note anyone wanna buy my MAP o2?:sneaky:

It really is a nice piece but better designed for 16G turbos.

*Update*

I got my PR o2 housing!

Since I have both with me I thought I would compare the two (Punishment Racing vs MAPerformance) so that members on here can get an idea of the differences.

Both items have fantastic build quality and you can’t go wrong with either one.

The inlet flange on the PR is much larger, the flanges are also much thicker. I had to resurface both flanges on the PR o2 though. The MAP o2 housing would be better suited to 14b and 16G turbos while the PR 02 would better for 20G and up turbos.

The location of the MVS is slightly different. The PR will be more angled towards the alternaor, while the MAP is angled up more and will fit a little better. I also feel the MAP o2 recirculation deign is better since it doesn't have a tighter angle compared to the PR one.

The downpipe flange are the same diameter for both at 2 1/2"

PR MVS pro's
-Larger inlet for larger sized turbos
-Thicker flanges
-Comes with the MVS installed for a perfect fit
Con's
-Position of the MVS close to the alternator
-Flanges need to be resurfaced

MAP MVS Pro's
-Better location of the MVS
-Shipped with resurfaced flanges
-Better recirculation design
Con's
-Smaller inlet flange
-Thinner flanges

Can you try to radius the edges like this;

<a href="http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/visiondsm/?action=view&amp;current=o2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/visiondsm/o2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I wouldnt want to buy an o2 housing which I then needed to have the flanges resurfaced.

I have the same o2 housing. I recently bought some copper gaskets from FFWD and wanted to port my o2 housing to match the gasket. My hotside for the turbo is a 7cm FP ported, so its ported to the max and the gasket is perfect for it.

Here are some pics of the first couple of ports before sanding and smoothing out the sides:

I run those gaskets on my PR MVS housing with no problems. Sometime with the copper gaskets they require a retorque after a few heat cycles. I had to retorque my turbo to mani gasket one time after about a week of driving to work.

I had to resurface my PR housing, i dont mean sand paper i mean in the machine shop, the flange that meets the turbine housing was not flat, it was a 2mm gap at least on one of the sides.

If you have this problem don"t ignore it it will crack when you tight it when you try to make it seal.

Yeah that's a good point. I checked the level of my flange and it was off about a millimeter in the center so I spent some time on that.
