HX35w Wastegate Question

I just purchased a HX35w turbo. I know it has a internal wastegate, but I want to go to an external wastegate off the O2 housing. Can I remove the internal wastegate when I put on a external or do I have to keep the internal bolted on?

I'm assuming you have a BEP bolt on housing. If you are currently internally gated, you would remove the flapper or just wire it open.

Im pretty sure its twin scroll housing that bolts to the manifold. It has the divided housing. Not positive as to what it is called.

If you are using the stock housing then the only way to go to external is off the manifold. Also the twin scroll housing is only good if you use a true divided manifold and that requires 2 external gates.

Ahh thanks. I understand a bit more now.

Would it be more feasible to go with the "Bullseye Power HX35 Turbine Housing: Mitsubishi Bolt-On #23481" from extremepsi and go with a external wastegate option?

This is my DD when it runs, so I am not too concerned if I lose some HP by going a different route

If you're looking to extract the maximum airflow out of the turbo, then no.

If you're looking for a quick, easy solution to getting a HX35 on your car, then yes.

Gotcha. I guess I will be going the full twin scroll method. Id rather get the most out of the turbo. Thanks for the help guys.
