I'll do a little bit of a back story.
First the light on the AC side of the HVAC controls stopped working, the bulb actually burned out but I didn't replace it because I was having problems locating bulbs. Next the lights on the defrost/AC switch stopped working, actually the AC one stopped working and the defrost still works. After a few weeks the other HVAC bulb stopped working, however I didn't see any breakage in the bulb when I eventually pulled them.
I decided to order some new bulbs, and replace the dash lights with red LEDs at the same time. The LEDs in the dash work great, and have been for a several months now. Even with nonLED bulbs the HVAC would not work, I replaced the one bulb that used to work in the Defrost/AC switch and it worked fine until recently.
Today, I got in LEDs to replace all of the bulbs to all of the HVAC. After replacing the previous bulbs, no surprise but it still isn't working. What is strange though is that the one bulb that was working in the defrost switch is no longer working after replacing it with a LED and even going back to the bulb that was in it originally.
The only thing I did the first time that I was thinking may have been the cause of the problem was cut out my old shift light. I kept all the wiring, just snipped it at the light itself. The previous owner installed the light not me, so I traced the wires the best I could.
After tracing them, I found that two of the wires went to the ECU, and one connected to the power source for the cigarette lighter/ash tray lights. Both of which I should mention work.
I also made sure to make sure the dimmer switch was all the way turned up. And yes, all of the switches functions, it's just the lights that aren't working.... except that defroster one that was working until today, but the AC light does not light up, which is strange because it's on the same circuit from what I can tell.
I'm also attaching a picture so you will know what I am talking about, for where one of the old shift light wires goes to.
