HVAC controls

So I have a 99 Eclipse GS and the HVAC control switch (temp control, fan speed, position) doesn't always light up. It will sometimes but then if I turn any of the knobs or go over a bump it'll go off. I believe it's a ground issue but can anyone tell me where it's grounded to?

Any help would be awesome!

Yeah I'd want it to be solid blue. I think when I'm sanding it off I just won't sand those parts of the gauges and leave them along so those colors won't change

If I had the proper LEDs right now, I'd show you how the sanded one's look with light shining through.

LED flash light, so gives same kind of light.

Is there only on light bulb for the guages???

No, each gauge has at least two bulbs. The larger ones have three. But I would highly recommend an LED strip for each so you have more light that doesn't have dark spots between bulbs, and it'll be much brighter than just a few bulbs. When I get the LEDs for the white cluster, they will be strips.

Would the blue light go through the yellow tint??? ### I mean from the picture you shied me with the flash light it looks fine to me

The blue would not, because of where it sits in the light spectrum. The flash light shines through because it's white light. I got some blue LEDs, I'll do the same thing with those and show you how they compare. Even with my sanding job, it doesn't shine through as well as a strip would.

Definitely go with a light strip. Here's the pics. The first two pics, is the sanded face, with only one LED. The last two pics is the stock non-sanded face, with TWO LEDs, and even then you can barely see it.

And I just looked at the hvac controls. The red wires are what's causing the problem tested the connector with the black and green wires to it and that's grounded fine and getting power. Now how do u remove the hvac controls so I could fix it??

You could remove the vents like I did in my pics, and just reach back and pull that part of the connector out. I wired my LEDs into the red section so I could use the stock connection so I could dim them with the dimmer switch.

But how do I get the led strip into the the controls???

And yeah I was planning on wiring it into the red wires so it would still be semi stock. And how would I do the strips for the gauges???

Each gauge can be removed from the back of the housing via a few silver screws. You can unscrew them and then place the strips anywhere you want.

I didn't list any LED info in the write-up, but if you put the strip around the inside edge, it'll be fine.
