The other day I was driving down the road boosting. My car went very lean then I hear a popping noise. I pull over to check it out and I notice TONS of whiteish smoke coming out of my exhaust and my manifold is cherry red. I let the car cool down a little bit thinking it just backfired and overheated. After 20 minutes or so I start up the car and it very quickly starts to rise in temperature I smell something, have a rough idle, and smoke starts coming out from under my hood. I immediately turn off the car before the temp gets into the red. I wait for it to cool down once more and check the oil, it's bone dry. So i grab a quart I have in the backseat and put it in. As I'm pouring, it starts to leak out through an area near the oil filter just as fast as I can pour it in. I guess my question is, does it sound like I fried my engine or it is possible that fixing the oil problem will be the only thing I need to do?

can you post a pic of where your losing oil from.

yes ill go up to the car and get a pic of it tommorow

Sounds to me like you blew your head gasket. Especially if the smoke was white, although that doesn't explain why the oil was leaking near the filter. Are you sure it wasn't running down the back of the block and that's where the drip happened to be?

Head Gasket is destroyed and you are looking at a head job as well. Check your oil for traces of coolant, same for the coolant. Oil Leak very well could be the headgasket but I cant say for sure. Considering you blew the headgasket to the point it has affected the temp of the motor, you are going to need to have the head checked for warpage once you get it off. Or heads warp real easy just from useage. You may have to have it milled to flatten it out.

How bout you buy it directly from his store....for those who haven't noticed, Bruce actually sells the stuff cheaper from the Parts Dinosaur store than on eBay :thumb:

how long had it been since an oil change?

I once had the oil filter gasket get stuck to the car and I put the new one on. When I started the car all the oil started coming out of it because of the extra gasket.

Hope your turbo is ok!!
