Alright so yesterday I headed to my mom's place which is 4 hours from where I live. About halfway there, the car threw a check engine light and sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders. Or 2 or what ever. So, I pulled over. Checked everything over, plug wires were on tight, and they are bran new ngk's as well as the plugs. Only 3 days old. I also disconnected the battery for a few mins, messed with the CAS, made sure all hoses and clamps were snug, etc. Everything looked fine.

I continued on my way. Didn't really have a choice. About 15 minutes later, the car all of a sudden ran normal. Like a flip of a switch, it was running on all 4 cylinders. About 2 hours after that, the problem came back as well as the CEL. The car would barely move, and I was going like 40mph on the PA turnpike. Up hills, it was bad. Like barely moving.

Finally, I made it to moms. This morning I pulled the car into her garage. I stalled it a few times. It would not stay running. I got it in the garage, checked everything over again. I got the timing light out and checked the timing BUT with out grounding that plug because I have yet to find it. I need info on that as well. I cannot find anything about it in my Haynes manual.

I unbolted the CAS again. Timing marks were perfect, then if I moved the CAS forward, the car sounded kind of better, still missfiring like bad, but it would stay running. When the CAS was forward, the timing marks were off. Turned it back to where I had it, would barely run but the marks lined up. Now I am not sure how much different it is without that plug grounded so maybe non of this even matters.

I am not sure how else to describe how the car is running. It sounds like you pull a couple plug wires off a car and try running it. I am stuck here at my moms with my 1 year old daughter which is awesome actually but my ex is going to be pissed if she has to drive all the way down here to pick up my daughter. We have a custody agreement thing and if she feels like being enough of a b*tch, she could get me in trouble. So I am looking for some advice.

I am about 5 mins from quakertown so if there is anyone near here that would like to come check it out, thatd be awesome.

Do you know what code is coming up? Only thing else i could think of would be like coil pack, bad mass or loose/baked wire. Im 40 min south of quakertown if you want extra hands and eyes. Endeffect0 is a great troubleshooter and has volt meters n such. I know you've talked to him on the forums before. If it can wait till morning Ill hit him up and see if we can help you out.

Yea I have been talking to him for a couple weeks now. He is a great guy and has helped me alot so far. I would LOVE for you to come help me out. I dont have any volt meters, data loggers, or anything of that nature. I will throw you a PM.

About a month ago I had nearly the same problem, cel was 'injector circuit'. Pushing the throttle down hard would barely move the car at all. Turns out one of my injectors died. Changed them and no problems. I was thinking the resistor pack was bad, before I changed the injectors out. Just something to look for, hope you find out the problem! Good luck!

check the injector clips and make sure the knock sensor is plugged in i think they do weird shit like that.

The injector clips have been broke since I bought the car. But they are on snug. I always push them down every time I am under the hood. I will see if I can find the knock sensor. I will check in my Haynes manual for that.

I had the same thing happen to me once. Fried knock sensor. Its threaded in the back of the block under the intake manifold. Mine was all melted or gooey where the wires go in. Hope you get it figured out

Test your coil pack for spark. Take of the wires one by one that attach to the coil pack. Have a friend bump the starter while you hold a acrewdriver about 1/4 inch from each terminal. (dont get shocked). If each terminal throws a nice fat spark, Check to make sure the spark is making it to the cylinder by pulling each spark plug one by one and checking it attached to the wire as somebody bumps the starter. If all this checks out It may be your ecu, most of the time if its a sensor you will show a check engine light.
It may be a fuel delivery problem, check to see if there is pressure on your fuel rail with the key on and car running.
There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, depress it, and if an adequate aamout of fuel flys out, Its prob not a fuel problem.
anyways, just a few things to check
GOOD LUCK
dsm....dee da dooo da dooo.....wrench all day. Lulz.:rocks::rocks::rocks:

funny story. one of my buddies saw your thread and thought it sounded like something I could figure out, so he called me to tell me about it. This is the same dude who was dating my Ex-girlfriend and heard i had a broken dsm and came over to help me fix it out of the blue.

I am going to get a shower, grab some breakfast and head up to his place in collegeville. it sounds like your not far from there so we will be up to lend a hand once we scrounge up some tools.

Cheers-
Greg
