Hey everyone, long long time lurker, and posting up to make sure I have everything. The car is a 1990 GSX 5 Speed, and my goals are 425whp and 11s in the 1/4.

Here's the plan

• Stock 144K 6 Bolt Shortblock
• ARP Head Studs/OEM MLS Head Gasket
• Stock Head with EVO Springs and Kiggly HLA
• GSC S1 Camshafts with EVO IX Timing Belt
• Stock Intake/1G N/T Throttle Body
• FP Race Exhaust Manifold.
• FP 68HTA
• VRSF FMIC
• 3" TBE
• Southbend Clutch .
• Deatschwerks DW300 with Hotwire
• Deatschwerks 1200cc Injectors with Fuelab AFPR
• Pump E85
• DIY COP with Yaris Coils
• NGK BPR7ES Plugs
• DSMLink V3 Speed Density Setup
• FD RX7 Wheels with QTPs

Looks good for your goals. I would recommend freshening up the block while you're doing all this work anyway. No sense in risking your new cams, turbo, etc to a tired bottom end.
Don't know anything about Evo timing belts, but a regular OE DSM will suffice.
The money you spend on a cop setup would be better spent elsewhere. A good OE coil with quality plug wires is all you need, and less of a headache.
It never hurts to be lighter either. Makes you faster and puts less stress on the drivetrain. Take out everything you can live without.

Your fuel is lacking.

1200cc injectors won't cut it with a single DW300.

1200cc injectors may cut it if you can bump your base fuel pressure up enough, and have enough pump to maintain flow at high pressure. I've seen people having really good luck with the Walbro 450s. You could probably pair one of them with 1200s and get to your power goal.

And W T F is a DIY COP with Yaris coils?

Forget COP for that power level. Keep stock ignition. If you're that worried about it, pick up a used dynatek arc-2.

And get a walbro 450. Been running mine for years. No issues with that, stock lines and stock filter, and e85 on a DSM76 that had seen up to 40psi on occasion and regularly saw 30psi.

What injectors are you on? Your profile doesn't say...

1200cc @ 43.5 psi should be good for roughly 53 lb/min @ 80% IDC on e85 according to my calculations. How much airflow is a 68hta capable of?

The 68HTA V2 is rated at 51 lb/min. The V1 is slightly less.

I ran FIC 1150s (flow tested at 1200cc) and they didn't cut it. Granted, I was on a single Aeromotive 340. Like I said, with a better fuel pump they may get the job done, but I'd personally go with something bigger.

Evo 9 belt is a kevlar belt, and they're only a couple of dollars more...very worth it! Part number: 1145A038

My fic 1100 high z's would max out around 550-580 on e85 with a walbro 450 and adjustable regulator.
You know you never made that much hp! JK ;). That's good to know because all the calculators I found tell me my Walbro 450 and FIC hi-z 1100s will only get me around 425awhp but that doesn't see m to be the case in the real world.

On this motor, it needs so much fuel I'm seeing 100% idc up too, ha ha high compression. Fml

With my 8.3-9:1 setups i usually end up in the low 12's an a gas afr scale with e85.

Im currently runnng around 550whp on a 3586htz setup at only 26-27psi, high 11 afrs, 18* of timing at 9,000rpms, and e54 fuel. Im running wiseco hd's 8.3:1.

Ive never been a fan of the high compression setups, except when you need the off boost torque to get up on the converter in an auto.

Yeah, on my 8.3:1 motor I never saw above 70% with mid 11's afr on a gas scale. Hop to this 10.5:1 and it needs low 9's around peak torque and low 10's up top. I doubt the fp30 turbine housing is helping anything either.

Better make sure your head and block are truly flat when you install the MLS HG. I only say this because I do t see anything about machining or restoring g the head(guides, seals, valves, etc).

Yeah that setup will get you to your goal fairly easy. I was running a walbro 255 with 1150cc and a 16g at 29lbs and made 420hp at evelvation on e85. stock block and head. Just arps and a head gakset and other support mods. But yes over all you have what you need for your goal!

My dsm82 in the fp housing had no issues at all running 12:1 at 40psi with regular wiseco 9:1 pistons.

I just installed the DSM82 on Saturday. Still wants to knock if I go leaner than the parameters I outlined above. Boost still wants to taper off like with the 76 too. 37psi peak boost falls to 30-31psi at 8000. At least the car feels faster than it did before. Scary fast. My concern is the back pressure.

With the car set at 26psi it holds straight across. Get it up past 30 and it tapers down.

I really just need to get my funds together and put this BW 362sxe on with a 1.01 divided t4 housing. I think that'd allow me to lean it out a bit and keep knock at bay.

I think 8.3:1 is the money maker on a 2.0L build. I feel like it's the HKS 272 of piston setups LOL

That actually was the setup I was able to thrash on! 8.3:1 pistons, hks 272 cams, e85 at 11.5-12.1, and 30psi+. Took it like a champ for a long time until the stupid Ross wrist pin decided it couldn't take anymore.

Next motor I build will be low compression. I need as big a tuning window as I can get.
