1G How's my setup look?

Hey everyone, long long time lurker, and posting up to make sure I have everything. The car is a 1990 GSX 5 Speed, and my goals are 425whp and 11s in the 1/4.

Here's the plan

• Stock 144K 6 Bolt Shortblock
• ARP Head Studs/OEM MLS Head Gasket
• Stock Head with EVO Springs and Kiggly HLA
• GSC S1 Camshafts with EVO IX Timing Belt
• Stock Intake/1G N/T Throttle Body
• FP Race Exhaust Manifold.
• FP 68HTA
• VRSF FMIC
• 3" TBE
• Southbend Clutch .
• Deatschwerks DW300 with Hotwire
• Deatschwerks 1200cc Injectors with Fuelab AFPR
• Pump E85
• DIY COP with Yaris Coils
• NGK BPR7ES Plugs
• DSMLink V3 Speed Density Setup
• FD RX7 Wheels with QTPs

I'd think comparing V8's is not a fair comparison. 600hp on a V8 is 75hp/hole. Less work/Less fuel needed per cylinder because you have 8 of them. Trying to make 600hp on a 4cyl doubles the power per hole to 150hp. Obviously you need more injector to supply more fuel to each cylinder if trying to achieve the same power.

I'm not saying 1200's won't work for you, just saying comparing what parts a V8 uses to achieve said power will not necessarily work for a 4cyl to achieve same power.

At the bottom of this page is a graph that has already done the math for most injectors to show the max airflow they can support at 80% and 100% idc @ 43.5 psi. Take the lb/min they're rated for multiply that by 9.8 and that's roughly how much crank HP they're good for.

Thanks for the link! Very helpful. According to that 1200s will do 53lbs at 80% IDC. I'm going to try them, and if I need bigger than so be it. I'm also not scared to turn the BP up.

What is the consensus on an Evo III intake manifold? Worth the money/hassle or no?

No but you can always go bigger to have more room to grow

I wouldn't pay more then 50 to 100 for one
