Hey guys i have a 97 tsi 7 bolt and i am replacing my lifters because they got the famous tick
. i already know how to remove the cams, rockers, and lifters but im not sure how to exactly remove the timing belt. take note im keeping the motor in the car because its my daily and i don't have time to tear out the motor. 1st off how do i get the timing belt off? 2nd after im done replacing the lifters and i have the rockers and lifters back in does it matter what way i put the cams back in? i know the exhaust cam and the intake cam go to their separate spots but i mean does it matter what way they go in or do the cams have to sit a certain way? and last but not least will doing all of this especially the cams and timing belt once its all back together will it ruin my timing or should it start right up? also what lifters should i go with and how much would they be?

not that hard. You need a tool to compress the tensioner.
