How to remove 3 year old vinyl stickers from car

pressure wash it at the right angle and it should blast off, then just wipe down the area with wd-40 to remove and extra sticky junk. Worked on my stickers on my old Rx7

The heat gun should work, that is how I have gotten stickers off on anything.

Even if it is, I wouldn't say anything to him about it, I mean he does have over 500 awhp.

Thanks guys. I want to keep the stripes. The vinyl has "faded" and is turning green on some areas. I want to put on new stripes. I wouldn't mind paintingn the stripes if its doable, but I will try heat gun for removing.

I just had to do this to remove those damn mitsubishi stickers the factory puts on all their cars. Get a razor, the plain flat kind that is shaped like a rectangle about 1.5 inch wide and get under the sticker. You shouldn't hit the paint at all but you'll have the glue left over. Now go get "Goo Gone" from Home Depot and apply liberally while working it away with a towel. Eventually it'll look like it was never there.

Yeh, those stripes look dumb with the CF hood. With white, you may not even have any ghost-sticker left over.

My suggestion is a hair dryer and WD-40. Or, a day parked in the nice, warm sun. Make sure they're not clear-coated over the top of the stickers.

heh-- Dre i just took my Dre-Stripe off over the weekend. WHAT A SUCKY JOB. heetgun/blow dryer along with 3m adheasive remover is what i went with. I had the same prob with my stripe, its fading REAL bad.

I will eventually get to removing the stripe (or painting on top of it if removal becomes a major challenge).

Reason behind the stripe is to accent the "ugly" egg shape of the 2G. The stripe addes some defination to the curves on the bumer and wing, and I've allways liked it. My personal preference. You can't win em all...

i never said i didnt like it :p
( i must have or i wouldnt have copy'd you )
it just got to the point it looked SOOOOOOOoooo bad from the fading.
( thats the diff from good vynal and cheep i supose)

Try using naptha (Zippo lighter fluid) and a cloth and just wipe it on, let it set for a couple of seconds, and then start rubbing it off with your thumb nail. It will take a little while to get it all, but you won't have to worry about damaging your paint. Works for me any time I have to replace a decal.

A long time ago I had a huge decal across the front of my car. The heat gun worked just don't have it too hot otherwise it will bubble your paint.

You'll have to buff out the marks left from where the decals were though. :thumb:

3m sells a wheel that you can use on an angle grinder or air grinder. its a rubber /foam type wheel that works perfect to take off stickers. i used it on the stock pinstripes on my old 1990 mazda b2000 low rider in high school. took it off perfectly without f-ing up the paint. i think i bought it at car parts/ car quest.

I think you will find that naptha will harm paint. Naptha is a reducer (thinner) for some paints. Lighter fluid I have heard of, but naptha isnt lighter fluid.

Try citrus orange air freshener. It works good. I use it to remove decals off racecars, traliers, ect.

Why don't you just go ahead and get the stripes peeled off and then bring the car to get painted?
