Ive searched and not found a procedure.

I can see the 4 bolts behind the hub that hold it on. Socket will not fit with the rubber boot on there. Rubber boot appears to be non-removable. How do you get these bolts out?

Remove the axle nut, then remove the bolt from the upper control arm (at the top of the knuckle) and the ball joint from the toe arm. Then pull the top out and off of the axle splines. You might want to spray the hell out of the splines first, as they have a really nasty habit of getting stuck....really stuck. Make sure to coat the axle splines with anti-seize before re-assembly.

So the axle will not come out of the hub.. I made a custom puller than bolts on where the wheel does and then pushes on the axle shaft... nope. It mushroomed the axle and will not come out. So I need a new axle and hub.
Where do you find something like that? Parts store for the hub I assume, but what about an axle? Junk yard? Or is that something parts stores sell? Ive never owned a vehicle w/ a CV axle before... I see why...disposable junk.

I had a seized axle in my rear wheel hub back in the day, had to buy OEM right under 300$ for just the axle. Got my hub from Checkers, but I'd try www.autopartswarehouse.com I got a front hub on there for a decent deal with free shipping. Them things like to seize so coat the new one with anti seize.

You can get an axle cup from raxles.com. then you can cut the boot off and have enough room to get to the four bolts holding the hub bearing on. The cup kit will come with the outer cup, a new boot, grease, clamps, and a new axle nut. You reuse the inner cup and center bar. Only downside is it won't come with an abs tone ring so if you have abs it will no longer work.

You should be able get the new outer cup from JNZ tuning. Order the one with the ABS ring. I think they will call it an outer axle rebuild kit. As was mentioned above, before reassembling it, put a really good coat of anti-seize on it. As you experienced, they do seize really badly.

Im not sure what an axle cup is?? Ive never touched anything w/ a cv axle in it. No clue. Changing the timing belt and head gasket was 10 times easier than this bs. I'd rather re-do that 5 times over before mess w/ this stupid axle/hub.

I did get the thing out. my 3/4" impact usually removes anything...anything. It did drive the threaded rod through the axle destroying it all to hell. oh well.

I guess just removing that boot you can access the bolts holding the hub on... info that would have been nice to know instead of building a puller and wasting my time destroying the axle. :)

Does anyone have any part numbers for this? Its the right rear axle with ABS. 95 Talon.
That Raxles.com site doesnt list anything.

I don't believe raxles does rebuilt rear axles for dsms. You can always call and ask. Marty is a great guy and very helpful. The cup will be that part that is stuck in the bearing. The bar is what connects the inner and outer cups. The cups are only held on by a retaining ring on the bar. If you take a hammer to the cup you can knock it away and off the bar. If you find a used axle make sure if you have limited slip rear or not. I can't tell by your pictures but if you do have limited slip the inner cup will have two sets of splines. A used axle will probably be the quickest route if you wish to retain abs.

On a side note, parts stores rent the same tool you made. Most likely not as heavy duty as the one you made, but serves the same purpose.

I couldnt find anything that heavy duty, thats a 1/2 plate...LOL.

This is on hold while I finish up another car (too many projects, I have AADD (automotive attention deficit disorder)). If anyone stumbles upon this thread and has a spare axle please PM me.

However, you did build quite the puller! that is really nice ! You should be able to get rebuilt axles from Driveshaftshop.com...however they might only have ones that are better (stronger) than your originals. You also need to make sure that you get the correct inner cups/splines. If your rear is an LSD, one of the inner axles will have two sets of splines and the other will have only one.

I dont really want to spend over $1000 on axles for a daily driver... I could fab up a complete straight axle setup for less than that.
