how to program laptop to datalog?

How can i program my laptop to use it as a datalogger? What software do i need for my laptop? I already got all of the connectors but need a software. Thanks ahead.

where did you get your cable? does it hook into the obd2 port?
i have a laptop and am intersted in trying something like this too.

i thought TMO was OBD1 only but if you have it that works on 2g's and know how to make the cables an such, Fill us 2g'ers in man
