Does anyone know an easy way to get the stock fan to turn on when you turn the car on? I only have the stock fan on the passenger side of the radiator. The drivers side I have a slim fan wired up to a switch.

I read this on another thread :

"You people spending all this time wiring up a relay on your 1g's. There is a coolant temp sensor at the bottom corner of the radiator all you have to do is unplug it, connect the 2 wires together and the fans will run whenever the ignition is on."

Can someone explain this a little more to me if this is correct? Which side of the radiator is this sensor on?
Thanks!

1g's have a coolant switch on the passenger side bottom of the radiator by the bottom hose. It completes a ground when it reaches a set point, so the fans are already hot at the relay and the switch makes the ground completing the relay circuit making the fans come on. I wired mine both up to the A/C switch/relay and can turn them on when ever I want to plus the switch will turn them on if I don't notice. For an easy way like you said, just complete the ground side of the fans and they should come on with the car.

It's on the passenger side at the bottom of the radiator. It's the only sensor/switch down there and the switch simply keeps the circuit open until a certain temperature is reached and then it closes the switch (completes the circuit) and the fan turns on. By unplugging the connector and jumping the two wires it closes the circuit so the fan runs all the time while the ignition is on.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll probably just connect the two wires so it comes on when I start the car.. But how did you wire it up to the A/C button? I'm by no means a wiring wiz.

if you removed a/c components from the engine bay, i think you can just hit the a/c button on the dash and both come on as well, regardless of the rad switch, but the fan might have to be on at least "1", to make the whole hvac system operative.

Mine just uses the button, but it has to turn "green" for the cooling fans to switch on.

Ok I'll try pushing the A/C button first and see what happens. My A/C compressor isn't hooked up anymore, but I think the A/C button still turns green when pushed in, if I remember correctly.

Awesome so I pushed my a/c button and the fan came on! Wish I knew that along time ago. And mine turns on when the button is red or green.
