I searched but the new algorithm on google and on the website keeps making me come up with goose eggs.

Is there a short and sweet way to easily identify if you have a 4 spider diff vs a 2 spider? Do I have to pull the trans apart to do this or can I just pop an axle out and peer inside or something? I don't know sh*t about M/T DSMs. Lol. So any/all help appreciated. Even if it's just a wordless comment with a link. Appreciate it fellas!

If it matters, it's for a 1G DSM. 91 model year.

I assume you're talking about center diff. If so axles don't go through it. Only way is trans disassembly.

Yeah, badly worded example was on some cars you can pull the axles and if you see light straight through, it means you have an LSD. I know it's the center diff, I was just curious if there was something similar you can do.

But, alas. I'm not about to disassemble this trans just to find out. Guess we'll just see if it holds an AWD launch or not.

OEM was only 2 spider center diff.

Yep. This transmission was "built" by a local guy, so I have no clue if he put in a 4-spider or just went with OEM. He's pretty meticulous so I'd be surprised if he didn't, but just gonna plan as if I don't have one. If the transmission grenades, might just go all out on a PAR synchro set and 4 spider diff. Who knows.
