I know this should be very simple but I can't get the small wire with the slide on connecter to come off my starter. Is there anything special I need to do?

It should just unclip and off... there is one that is held on by a nut, then the other is a clip. Kinda similar to what is used for the coolant temp sensor.

So do I just squeeze it to make it unclip? I tried doing that with no luck from under the car.

and hold your tounge at the right angle LOL...but no seriously be patient with it and it will come free it took me a few mins of spirted tuging and wiggling to get mine off

alrighty, going out now in the snow to squeeze, wiggle, and hold my tongue at the right angle.
