How to disconnect starter wire

I know this should be very simple but I can't get the small wire with the slide on connecter to come off my starter. Is there anything special I need to do?

It should just unclip and off... there is one that is held on by a nut, then the other is a clip. Kinda similar to what is used for the coolant temp sensor.

As stated before, it is like the coolant clip. It is a pain in the butt to get at so try and move everything can out of the way and feel around for what to push. If not, try getting under the car and looking as you may be able to see it better.

So do I just squeeze it to make it unclip? I tried doing that with no luck from under the car.

Squeeze, wiggle, and pull all at the same time.

and hold your tounge at the right angle ...but no seriously be patient with it and it will come free it took me a few mins of spirted tuging and wiggling to get mine off

Exactly what everyone else said also. It is a combo of pushing the clip in, wiggling, and pulling.... depending on how long it's been it could have a lot of grime stuck in it.
