How to diagnose a tick/knock

well its like unlike my 4g63t is warmed up i get a pretty loud tick/knock coming from the right side near the timing belt in the front of the motor not the back.. was the car has been drivin it goes away... if u let it sit there it wont just go away no matter how warm it is.. it has to be driven..?


so what could it be?

well call me a noob.. i put 87 ocatane in it.

and the car sat for 7 months before that.. so it has old gas and 87 ocatne in it.. i guess that really bad for it ..


they said it could be messing with timing tryin to burn the shitty gas causing it to knock ?

That might be your problem. I always put Ultra 94 in my GSX.

Don't using anything less than 93 octane. 87 will cause detonation, and kill your engine.

The highest octane fuel I can find here is 91 octane. I thought that was good enough?

For stock boost, 91 may be ok, but definitely not 87. I never use anything less than 93, every gas station has it. But if you are using 91 and start turning your boost up, you are going to have detonation issues. Besides, not sure about Canadian vehicles, but mine says by the fuel gauge ""Premium Fuel Only" which is 93-94. Just FYI. Not tryin' to be a dick or anything, just tryin' to help man. Peace.
