Just like the title says. It seems pretty straight forward but I just want to make sure. I can do it while its still on the car right? Just push the fork back and pull out the rod? and replace the rod with a longer one?

You can unbolt the slave but do not remove the lines and then remove the slave rod and replace it. You will be fine as long as no one presses the clutch pedal while the slave is unbolted . If that happens you will need a new slave as it will more than likely blow the piston out of it.

Extended slave rod does not work and can cause more issues than it's worth. Your hydraulics are self compensating, so at any time with the pedal released, you should be able to push the rod into the body of the slave. If you can't you've got a misadjusted pedal which has put the hydraulics into cut-off. This condition is more common on the 2g cars. Essentially, the hydraulics can't self adjust for wear on the clutch any more. The volume of fluid in the system can't change or decrease. So, if you stroke the pedal too quick, injesting more fluid into the system, it will apply pressure against the release lever, causing the clutch to slip.

Or, you may not encounter problems for a bit until your clutch wears enough over time that the release lever continues to be applied (as your clutch wears the lever will move to the drivers side). Now because your hydraulics can't adjust itself (remember the volume of fluid is now set and the slave rod can't go any deeper into the slave body) So, back to the clutch wearing and the release lever starts to apply the clutch more and more until it slips.

Rebleed your clutch hydraulics. Readjust the pedal and you should be fine. 2g cars don't have the wear problems of the 1g cars.
