if anyone has a alternator belt vfaq link, you should send it to me.. my belt had its final squeeks today before chunks of it started flying past my face LOL

just an alternator belt change. it doesnt seem to hard, ive done them before just not on a dsm, i just wanna get it right the first time.
 
you think i didnt already look? i coudnt find it, i thought that maybe someone would have the direct link..

it's just as straight forward as it seems, this is for a 2g I believe 1g's should be similar if not exactly the same

loosen the 2 bolts connected to the Alternator bracket, 1 is just a holding bolt, the other is the tesion adjustment bolt, loosen bolt of them.
After those are loosened all you have to do is push the alternator towards the block and lift the belt off.
The only hang-ups you'll run into is the clearances between the pulleys and the body, you just have to tilt the belt to get it in and out, the second is the tensioning bolt is also in a cramped area, if you can get an angles ractheting closed ended wrench it will make you life easier.

Chiltons/Haynes manuals help out a lot also the founder posted a link to the Scribd post of our tech manuals
 
To make it easier I would reccomend removing driver side tire and splash gaurd to gain access to the retaining bolt.
 
with 2g's removing the driver splash guard doesn't give me any more clearance to that retaining bolt but yeah I forgot you want to remove that to at least get to the pulley and belts
 
nice kk, ya i got it changed today. it was kind of a pain in the ass actually.. but got at everything from underneith. also found out that the broken belt busted the connector off the oil pressure sensor LOL
