I have a Buscher AFPR on my Talon but it doesn't have a gauge. Up until now, I've adjusted it using a fuel pressure tester kit. This process is starting to get old though.
My question is, how do I go about adding a liquid filled gauge to this setup?
I've seen other Buscher AFPRs with a gauge mounted onto the unit but mine doesn't have this provision.
I'm not experienced with flow dynamics of fuel or the best spot for fuel pressure gauge placement.
But can I just tee off the return line directly after the regulator and have that lead to the gauge?

Do you have the one that mounts on the fuel rail? If there is no place for a gauge on it you can put it on the fuel filter. You cant put it on the return line. You can use something like this https://www.rtmracing.com/xcart/product.php?productid=17448&cat=1016&page=1

Yes, it's the style that mounts onto the fuel rail and directly replaces the OE fuel regulator.

That link is a good idea, I didn't realize it was an option. Glad I asked! Thank you for the help guys.

An update and two new questions. I went ahead and installed the gauge setup that you guys recommended and it works great. Thank you again for that tip!
However, now whenever I remove the vac line to set pressure, fuel leaks out of it. It didn't do this prior so its a recent failure. I pulled the fitting and reset it but it still leaks. Is the diaphragm shot?

I was also curious to know if this is a real Buscher afpr. Maybe time for an upgrade if it's not.

If you have fuel coming out the vacuum port, I would definitely take it apart and inspect the diaphragm. There should be no fuel in the top section of the AFPR.

That's what I thought. I was just hoping the fuel seepage was something else. Ended up taking it apart and the diaphragm looks all right visually, but definitely isn't sealing. Apparently rebuild kits aren't available for these Buschur units anymore, I don't have the means to fab one up. What a waste, it's worked great :banghead:

Stock FPR for the time being.

Bummers man that stinks. Look into a nice fuel lab afpr to replace it

I've been doing a lot of research on a new AFPR. Not sure if this happens to other people, but after a while, you read so many differing statements on the various car forums, you reach an impasse.

Example: a majority on one site swears by one product and then on another site, there's an in-depth article about how the product lacks fit and finish and ten reasons to avoid it. Some topics are cut and dry; like, don't buy an ebay turbo. Other times, wading through the various sources leaves you more unsure.

/end rant :)

I have seen more positive votes for the Fuel Lab AFPR than the Aeromotive. Is that what you're running kauai?

Ya I've also read the same bro. I Tend to look at what's actually being run by those i know here. And those that I can see real world experience with! But ya im using fuel lab and love it. Have one for the gvr4 and gst and also using there fuel filter setup, and both cars on w255's. So far not a single issue and perfect fuel pressure.
