My power steering is loose on my 99 N/T.
I know what to do, and I have searched but can't find anything on how tight to PS belt should be. I don't want to break it or leave it too loose. So how tight should it be? That is all I need to know.

About a quater of an inch do you have the manual not too much flex or too tight, do it start the car and listen for the squeal.

Every car I have ever had my power steering belt has had about 1/4 inch of deflection to a max of about 3/8 inch.

So if I push on it with my fingers it should only move about an 1/4 inch?
And yes I do have a Haynes Manual, but it doesn't give that information anywhere. I look throughout the whole book almost trying to find it. That's why I asked here, I found 0 on the internet too.
