here's my 14b with a FEW cracks in the exhuast side... :thumbdown just got this off of trader/

now my question is. how bad of shape is this in? i have an extra exhuast housing...but that turbo has been through hell... what concerns me the most is the crack in the last picture - that's the pic after i took the exhaust housing off.. that's real bad right? i'm about to send this back to this dude. i've waited a week for this..my car is damn near undrivable...and i get this in the mail... is this turbo even worth bolting up? miracously it has no shaft play, which blows my mind too.

Agreed. I think i was almost about to buy a turbo that looked as crappy as that. I have never ever seen something that bad. You HAVE to get pictures of things before you buy them. There is no hope for that turbo.

i would say the turbo will work if you say it has no shft play. the fins don't look very chewed up. it just looks like that turbo has quiet a few miles on it. and wouldn't be up for raceing as for the cracksjust relax they don't look that bad from the pic once again your not planning on racing it right. i think you will be fine

one more thing get that debris out by those fins can't tell what it is from the pic. also you will always get those people who are so critical with stuff, and everything always has to be new, those people are just people who have deeper pocket books than the normal people. after a 3 to 4 grand in parts, then getting another car to. they will start to learn what will work and won't and new isn't always the best. been there done that now that i am 4grand lighter in pocket book. my standards of how perfect parts have to be has gone down quiet a bit and every still works fine sure you may loose a couple tenths in the quarter cuz its a used part but i can live with that

With the rest of the turbo looking like that I doubt that shafts going to be tight. The exhaust housing is obviously junk and the center section looks like someone just unearthed it like it was dead and buried once before.

So you are saying you would buy this turbo and put it on your car???? Do you not see the Wastegate hole?? I myself am one of those people who are very picky about the condition of stuff i am buying. One because who doesn't like things in good condition and two you have people out there who's opinion or description of something would differ from yours. That guy probably said "14b for sale, Good working condition few cracks in the exhaust housing" when i would have said "14b in for core or rebuild"

My old turbine housing looked like that I have a ported 14b in good condition (no cracks at all) that I was trying to get rid of for only 10 more dollars then that

That's one of those things where you just need to let it go. That's almost like trying to rebuild a completely wrecked car.

I feel for you man. I got kind of douched on a turbo too. Dude said it had 750mi and no shaft play, good condition...and I got it looking like this. Luckily we worked it out and he paid for a new comp wheel. Definately get your money back for that.

How did you pay? If it was Paypal then dispute the charge (send em some pics) and call your CC company if you need too. If you payed with money order/check/cash then your probably screwed if hes an asshole. Good luck getting your money back, and dont even bother bolting that "thing" to your car!

If you can't get your money back, just use the center section from the one you bought has no shafplay I imagine that you could completely dissasemble the two and make one, and hell if you can't I prolly can, where are you at hopely somewhere down south. I have made a few turbos, just suggestion.

well i have another exhoust side for it, ported and everything. i'm in a super bind and might through it on friday. my current 14b is just worthless right now. the thing has no shaft play and spins pretty freely. i'm still trying to contract the guy to work somthing out. if not i know an excellent lawyer that is a part of the local "scene" here in KC. we'll see what happens. i paid through a money order, so i may be screwed as far as money goes. but i have his address and have enough crazy friends to pay him a lil visit. .
