This is probably going to bug some readers but I have to ask really newb question but,

adding a Full Exhaust Downpipe, High Flow Cat and Cat-back 3'' all the way how much hp

gain is expected?? Has anyone ever dyno after exhaust work?? I read in a magazine

once they put a 3'' downpipe on a 2G eclipse and it gained 38whp.. is that true?? Also, Is

it a Huge or Noticeable difference?? Thanks, in advance..

Put one on, put it on the dyno and see what your numbers will be. You wont get what they get since it's THEIR car and yours is different.

No answers given on guesswork since there is no absolute facts in hand.

Wasnt asking for guess work. Was simply looking for proven results..

i was a couple tenth seconds faster when i had the downpipe on. it decreased my spool times ALOT

Well, thats a plus! thanks,

idk if this is helpful or not but i got my exhaust done today and gained 3 hp... LOL for the money it wasnt worth it.

I was more looking at hp gains with the guys that have tsi or gst or gsx's.. hp gain on n/t 4cyl are minimal..

With my EVOIII GT setup running 18psi I put a full 3" exhaust on I felt a very noticable difference in spool time and low rpm. Don't know what it did at higher rpm because my OEM style clutch started slipping. That's just by the seat of my pants, sorry I don't nave any numbers for you, there are no awd dynos around here. If by chance you get yours on a dyno let us know what you get.

this is a good thread for me and my beater, it has mhi b16g, fmic, dsmlink, 660s, evo 9 pumpe, act/fidanza, etc etc, but STILL stock turboback ahah. the car feels pretty darn quick already compared to my t25, i'm pushing 17lbs, this car likes to knock at 20-21 on 91 pump above 5000rpm so i keep it low.

being the mhi big16g that it is, it spools quick and hits hard compared to my pte 50 on my other car. i hit full boost low 3000rpm can't remember. i definitely went backwards in the modding stages with this car.

so it should be interesting if a full turboback will give me anymore power out right

With all those mods a turbo back system will help you waaaay more than it would someone with a stock system. It wouldn't shock me if you got 30-45hp by adding a turbo back.

now i'm getting antsy :D just been patient waiting for the 3" turboback system on ebay to start showing up again, they were $270 shipped for the entire thing! n1 style muffler, ss piping, arghhhh, i knew i should've got it when I had the chance....

Yea I had one for my 2g fwd I paid like $325 on eBay it was nice.

I have to admit even when I was on a T25 I noticed a big gain by switching to an a'pexi n1 downpipe+catback exhaust.. Made my stock clutch slip like crazy :thumb: 5th gear was pretty much useless under WOT... No dyno results but I would guess at least 15 hp on a T25 with full exhaust, and it sounds so much nicer! :)

Definately let you guys know once I get mine installed, probably in the next mth or so.. Gotta do a tranny rebuild so might just wait to get that done all at once..

There is no way they gained more power with the intake pipe than they gained with the downpipe.

This is not directed at you in anyway.

Thats what I was thinking,, as if they pulled that much on a intake system.. Magazines lie!!

To the OP.

The only reason why anyone would ever want to add an exhaust in performance wise is to gain power.

You will only see power gained when the current exhaust is holding your possible air flow from flowing as free as it could.

Put a stock turbo back on a 1000whp car and see it turn into a 500whp.

Put the 3" back on and see a 500whp gain.

But at the same time put a 3" exhaust on a stock car and you may only see 10whp of a change beacuse the stock T25 / 14B cannot flow much more then is able to escape the stock downpipe.

The age old question of will exhaust give me more power all maters on your car and its current mods.

And when you get into how much whp will exhaust show with x mod's etc etc starts to get into random guesses unless someone has the same data as you.

Maybe. The 2.5 buschur downpipe goes connected to the stock cat, then the thermal catback...

In a later session they removed the stock cat for a straight pipe an gained 28whp and 6 tq....

The downpipe and intake pipe is something I would have to see to believe. The intake pipe won't make that kind of power anyway, I doubt it would make 2hp. I might believe the amount the downpipe gained since it still had the cat on. But the intake pipe gains, no way.

Again not directed at you, just about them. I think they were exaggerating a little to help out a company that advertises in their magazine.
